    Euro 2016

Still a long way out from the actual tournament but thought it would be a good time to start a thread as the qualification is nearly over and there are a few teams already qualified. The group that I have taken most interest in is group A with Holland struggling to qualify in a group consisting of Iceland, Czech Republic and Turkey. Amazing to think that they (Holland) are fourth behind these teams with two games left to play.

Teams that have qualified thus far are:

    France (host nation)
Iceland (first time at a major tournament - well done)
    Czech Republic
    England
    Austria

there are two/ three games in each group still to be played with the final group games to be played mid October.

The first two from each group qualify plus the best third place team with the remaining 8 third place teams involved in a play off for the remaining 4 spots.

Totally disagree with that call that they are underachievers. They are the only country with a population less than 20M (with the exception of Uruguay and Sweden who made the final last in the '50's) to have made a world cup final and they have made 3.

How exactly are they under achievers?? I would actually suggest that they are over achievers and have been at the forefront of the game a number of times since the early '70.s Not bad for a country with a population of 16M.

Many people have expected them to win and maybe this skews your thought process in suggesting that they are under achievers.

As for in-fighting there have been times throughout their history that this is the case particularly in relation to Davids and Seedorf but recently they have been very united with a 2nd and 3rd place in the last two world cups being evidence to this.

Footy finishes and then straight into Albania v Switzerland, followed by Wales v Slovakia and then England v Russia. Already been a long day of sports watching - another 8 hours to go

France 2 - Romania 1 to kick off the tournament.

Cracking strike from Dimitri Payet. Will go close to being the goal of the tournament.

Modric's goal last night was a thing of beauty - going to be hard to beat for goal of the tournament

I think they've underachieved in tournaments when the general consensus was they'd perform better.
I hope they go well as they are wonderful to watch in full flight

This thread is about Euro 2016. Holland aren't in it. The less said about it the better

Germany looked good against Ukraine. Hard to go past them at this stage.

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yep. They may not have the best squad, but they have the best manager by a mile and they'll be hard to beat.
