As a 10-year-old, turning up to a seniors cricket match and ripping through the opposition's batting order in a few overs is the stuff of dreams.
But that is exactly what young leg spinner Thomas Wrigglesworth did at the weekend for Sale cricket club in Victoria's east, with figures of five wickets for nine runs off just eight overs.

He also bowled three maidens in the spell.

What makes the 10-year-old's bowling figures even more impressive, is that it was his first game as a bowler.

"I was a [wicket] keeper but now my brother taught me how to bowl leg spin, so I tried that for one game and it worked," Thomas told 774 ABC Melbourne.

Thomas honed his skills as six-year-old cricketer playing under-11s, before receiving the call up to the seniors.

His father Ian Wrigglesworth, a former cricketer for Victoria, may have also played a hand in his precocious feat.

"He's a good dad, he teaches me a fair bit cricket-wise," Thomas said.

Despite his pedigree, Thomas said he was still surprised when he got his first wicket.
"I thought that was a fluke," he said.

But after clean bowling his second victim, his confidence grew.

"I thought I may be a chance to get a few more."
As the wickets continued to drop his amazed teammates jokingly implored the 10-year-old to "share the wickets around".

Thomas said he received his fair share of high-fives and hand shakes after the game.

I heard him on the radio this morning. He is Ian Wrigglesworth's son. Ian played Shield cricket for Victoria.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yes, I heard that too. Amazing stuff from a 10year old.

His father was a fair player. Decent all-rounder.

He was very talented. Did he have injury problems but he dominated District cricket for a couple of seasons.
