Great batting though, you've still got to score them
Yep. It looks too good to either go all out or declare under 700. At the current run rate 700 is around tea time with Voges, Marsh, Johnson & Starc to swing hard as well.

Bugger it. We've won the series lets go for 1000. The highest test score is 6/952 so we would have the record.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Warner could release a new bat, the "kaboom 500 not out" series.

Have to wonder whether Khawaja will make Adelaide...and whether it's worth risking him if he's not quite right

Tough decision. If Bancroft comes in it means he either goes to 3 which isn't ideal for a specialist opening batsman (he hasn't batted in the middle order since the Under 19 World Cup when he kept wicket and batted 7), nor is he suited to batting 3 or it means we move Burns down and disrupt the Burns/Warner opening partnership which has been functioning so smoothly.

I would like to trial another youngster considering they'll probably only get the one test, especially if the series is finished in Perth. Handscomb would be a nice choice at 5 with Smith and Voges moving up. I wouldn't mind Bancroft either.

I think the selectors would be probably be looking at S.Marsh or maybe Klinger though. They get to put a guy straight in at 3 who can do the job and is in form while not shifting the rest of the order around. Marsh is fresh off 92 in Adelaide last week also. I think they'll only go for a youngster and disrupt the rest of the order if the series is already won.

Marsh always seems to come back without the need for form that everyone needs to have. So surely he's the replacement.

Good to see some fight from NZ here. Williamson and Taylor both classy players. Now to see which of our boys can turn it around.

Cricket is killing cricket, if they are going to play on roads they will get to 5 days but it's going to be hard to get results.

I understand the sentiment GVG, but since Ashes 2013, Aust has played 24 Tests for 22 results and 2 draws. Draws were commonplace 20-30 years ago, now they are rare. I reckon good bowling will get wickets on this pitch. Credit to batsmen at present.

The one thing that I thought we had in Australia was different tracks in each state. This isn't playing like a WACA wicket.
I agree we aren't bowling well though. This summer looks like 2 series to pad up the batting averages.

Do agree that Perth (especially) and Brisbane pitches have not had their usual zip in recent 3 or 4 years, which is a shame. Diversity in conditions is a good thing for the game.

This is an insane spell from Starc, had two catches dropped, touched 160kph and has the ball zipping

Starc just broke 100 miles (160 km). Wowee!!!!!!

Two dropped catches of Starc now are going to hurt now.
