So if everyone is fully fit, what's your side look like?
Right now I'm not convinced Mitch March (averages 23 bat & 33 bowl) is a better bowler or batsman than Mitch Starc (averages 27 bat & 30 bowl - Freddie Flintoff finished averaging 31 bat and 33 bowl). I'd play Starc if we need an all rounder in this spot, his got the stats to claim being the best all rounder in the nation. The batting albeit against a local suburban bowling line up has crystallised them. 3 batsman made over 1,000 runs this calendar year despite losing 2 tests against the Bangers to really, really, really cash in. I don't mind a left/right opening combo either. Neville has made the spot his and looks a competent bat too.
The four quickies are as an exciting squad as quicks as I can remember since McGrath, Dizzy, Fleming & Brett Lee. Lyon is the best finger spinner we've ever had. He picks himself. So Starc as a number 7 all rounder and a fairly decent tail. As for their real jobs, an express leftie and Yorker specialist, some express and aggressive right handers who can hoop it around and a McGrath like excellent bowler who copped it from the media and still made the ICC team this year. A great variety with a very good spinner and some better than part time from Warner & Smith.
1. Boo-urns
2. Warner (VC)
3. Khawaja
4. Smith (C)
5. Voges
6. Neville
7. Starc
8. Pattinson
9. Cummins
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood
Next All Rounder: Mitch Marsh
Next Spinner: O'Keefe
Next Quick: Bird
Next Bat: S. Marsh (hopefully not for long)
Next Keeper: Wade/Handscomb
