Bubbling, simulating dog rooting, drunk and disorderly regularly, assaults frequently, drug trafficking, assaulting women and so on and so on. WTF?

I can't wait to see how Rebecca Wilson makes this latest story someone else's fault, probably a Victorian or non NRL person.

This isn't just an NRL thing but there are a few athletes in team sports that are just really bad people. People keep turning a blind eye because they have talent but in the end their stupidity surfaces.

I'm not saying AFL players or other athletes are angels, drugs and violence seem common place, but in the past two years I've seen an NRL player and watch them wee into his own mouth and another try to root a dog and wee on a couch after it. I can't think of anything else on the bizarre and disgusting level from other code's players.

Rebecca Wilson just continues to make herself less and less relevant. It's a shame because I admire her passion for sport but she continually gets issues arse around and uses convenient truths to make debating points rather than tease out the real problems. In short she is a hypocrite.

Whilst I agree that all sports need to sharpen up their act, there is something especially stoneage about the NRL culture. The above is a photo that the Roosters players (including Pearce) happily posted on Instagram earlier the same day which would've otherwise passed unremarked upon.

Imagine if we saw a similar Bulldogs shot from Mooloolaba today, all shirtless and hitting the drink - unthinkable.

Don't forget the other recent incident where the act with the dog wasn't actually simulated. That chap left the country soon after.

Sport tends to attract the alpha male types which sees this sort of thing overrepresented than in the general public, but sadly by nowhere near the level made out.

NRL is just especially bad. Mostly because, by and large, it's a simpleton sport, played by simpleton blokes, followed by simpleton people, and covered by simpleton journalists/media types. It's the perfect storm. There wouldn't be many other sports on the planet that appeal to such a disproportionate amount of dickheads, bar maybe NASCAR and V8 supercars and their drivers actually seem pretty reasonable, while not being under the intense spotlight like footballers.

I have this argument at least 4 times a year at work. I stand by my thoughts...these guys are paid ridiculously amounts of money because (in some cases) they are very good at their sport. They are not employed because of their great intellect. Yes, they get lectured, yes they get put through training, but the old adage of leading a horse to water is true. NRL players just seem a whole different level of stupid.

A young fella I'm training at the moment used to act like this. He still has a bunch of mates in Scoresby who carry on like this most weekends.
