    He's not an all rounder. Starc: Played 28 - Innings 43 - Average 24.80 - Fifties 6 (inc. 99) - Hundreds 0

You can't have the 6th spot in the batting order bringing in 23 runs. May as well play 5 bowlers, 5 bats and a keeper.

You have to feel a bit sorry for Mitch. Young kid picked entirely on potential, has struggled and Rod Marsh has turned up the pressure in the media. It's pretty disgraceful from the Chairman.

Its a batsmen's game anyway - pitches are glorified roads, bat sizes are obscenely large, grounds are much smaller and roped in, bowlers can't bowl more than 2 bouncers an over. If a batsman is beaten and gets hit on the pad they deserve no sympathy if they are given out and it is proven to be going on to hit the stumps.

Worst 7 wicket collapse in a home test since 1934.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Simon Katich makes a good point on ABC radio, the South African bowlers deserve all the credit. We haven't been out playing extravagant shots, just beaten by good bowling.

That's true. It's easy to overlook how well the opposition have played. They have bowled a much more disciplined line today and stuck to the plan even though it didn't work for the first hour and a half. None of the rubbish half trackers they were serving up yesterday.

Has the pitch deteriorated a little too? It seems a little less predictable. A bit two paced.

Oh, have Katich and Michael Clarke been commentating together yet?

We keep picking teams that are record breakers. The selectors must be thrilled to have this on their resumes.

Is it any wonder that a growing number of Australians can't stand watching their own Test team. No bottle, no personality, no pride.

We could easily name 2 or 3 players who should never play for their country again but you just know that Mitch Marsh, Usman Kawaja (proper test match bowlers worked him out after his first full test series-stop torturing the poor bastard) and Adam Voges will be the first named because the *!*!*!*!ing selectors are so much more advanced in their thinking than us mug punters.

Had we picked better batsman they should have been able to handle tight bowling backed up by defensive fields. Yes SA need some credit but we we never adjusted properly to the tighter line they bowled.

Relevance? He was given out, he referred it, the technology confirmed the dismissal. Why is this being discussed ad nauseum?

Maybe next time Smith can get some willow on it.

I thought the intent of our batsman was fine, this wasn't Brad Haddin walking down the pitch at 6/18. The South African bowlers were just better.

I do agree selection hasnt helped. There always should have been a genuine batsman at 6
