Reckon I saw every ball of cricket bowled from 1979 to the mid 90's, and Windies were the best team in the history of team sport. They didn't lose a test series for 15 years anywhere - India, Pakistan, England, Australia. What the Saffers dished up today was very high quality cricket - they tightened the screws with their off stump line just short of a length to starve Usman and Smith for any runs. Then they used the short ball beautifully to blast out the middle order. It was a brilliant display of fast bowling not far removed from what the Windies did in their prime.

Missed watching any of it, I was in the car and it was bad enough listening to it.

Just imagine what Pakistan will do to us.

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I don't know whether to think "why would he bother?" or "that explains those sudden batting collapses!" But tge ball didn't see, to be be moving both ways when we kept falling apart. It was excellent bowling by RSA but tight, disciplined very fast bowling more than extravagant movement.

The South African batting has been a bit ordinary but we can't handle their bowlers. Especially since they lost that pie chucker Stein.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Does anyone remember the embarrassment of Hadlee running through whatever batting lineup we sent out? Alan Border and his team celebrating passing the follow on against India, clapping the batsmen from the boundary? Botham and Willis, Headingly and Edgbaston 1981? Cheering when John Dyson came into the side and dared to hook the Windies pace attack?

There's a dozen more where they came from

Most of the 1980s were dire. There's a long way to go before we reach those depths again.
