I worry about the future of those. There was a tour match in Cairns for Pakistan that was day/night with a pink ball, and they started just blocking out the night session when the ball was really swinging to preserve wickets for the next day

Is that so bad though? It's been a decent way of turning around the batting dominance that is the modern game. It's certainly not impossible to grind through that last session

Not really that much different to a team grinding through a period of heavy cloud cover or getting through a nippy pre lunch session on the first day.
