    The IPL?

There are a number of cricket enthusiasts here but I wonder if anyone has more than a passing interest in this competition?
I haven't watched a full game and couldn't even tell you how many teams are in the competition and really it just hasn't captured my interest.

Has anyone embraced this? What do people think of the standard of the cricket?

I'm really surprised at how quickly I got bored with blokes hitting boundaries on grounds that would fit in my back yard.

As far as I can tell the Deccan Chargers keep playing the Kolkatta Knight Riders over and over and as the top players gradually take their money and leave the players who come into the teams become less well known.
            It's extraordinarily uninteresting.

Frankly, I wouldn't walk across the road to watch any 20/20 but this stuff rates at the bottom of the heap.

I'll go against the grain and say that I'm enjoying it, and am even starting to develop a soft spot for Warnie's Royals.

Initially I thought there is no way I could come at a side that had Graeme Smith in it, but I too am starting to get interested in the Royals. They have a noticable lack of star players (Warne aside) but they keep winning.

When you eliminate the fact that he has a tendency of making a fool of himself, or a tool as you prefer, what remains is a quality cricketer.

I had doubts of Warne as a coach but I think he is doing very very well with the Royals, particularly when, as you point out, there's a lack of big names other than the man himself.

Biggest story so far is ow Glen McGrath keeps bowling well when he hasn't played since the WC.

I woke up early this morning and watched a game. Shane Watson was hitting them well. I still couldn't get into it but I must say how surprised I was with how excited the players were after the win. They seem to be taking it seriously.

If I was getting paid large wads of cash to play games of cricket that last 2 and a half hours, I would be pretty happy too...

I think what GVG is getting at is that they seem to be genuinely very happy to win a game, implying that despite the fact they'd still get paid for doing bugger all they're being genuinely competitive.

Well, Warnie has taken his Rajasthan Royals into the the IPL final with a 105 run win overnight of the Delhi Daredevils in the first of the semi finals.

Batting first the Royals made 9/192 with Shane Watson scoring 52 (29 balls), Pathan 45 (21) & Asnodkar 39 (21) the major run scorers.

The Daredevils then collapsed to be dismissed for just 87 runs in 16.1 overs. Watson had a fine double taking 3/10 off 3 overs (& man of the match), Patel 3/17 off 4 & Warne 2/21 off 4.
