    NBA thread 17/18

I haven't been watching quite as many games this season, but have been enjoying the Pacers playing fast paced, team orientated basketball, while Philly have been fun to watch, too.

Could be a wide-open finish to the year with a few teams lining up to challenge the Warriors in the west and a couple of surprise contenders who may challenge the Cavs and Celtics in the east.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I'm getting a bit sick of hearing that Patty Mills played on La Bron and how well he did. I'm sure there are more players in the NBA than La Bron James and a handful of Australians who play on him every now and then.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Are you confusing Mills with Ben Simmons?
More of an In Bruges guy?

Probably, basketball is a sport I speak with no authority on at all although I have taken more of an interest the last couple of years in the NBA. He played on James again in the last few days.

I bought an NBA pass this year, to be able to watch Philly - loving their playing style, a really exciting team on the rise.
But just seem to have a bad quarter each game which either lets the other team back in the game, or loses the game for us.
Losing to the Suns, Lakers and Cavs this week hurt.

As an NBA fan for so long it is funny seeing how much publicity it's getting now that Simmons is playing. Pretty much every 76ers game is reported in the local news. It's great for the sport here if he does well.

It appears this season is down to Houston and Golden State in the west and Cleveland and Boston in the east. The Spurs could challenge in the west with Leonard coming back if he can stay healthy.

Its hardly surprising though. No Australian has ever gone close to what Ben is doing in his first season. It is going to be very exciting to see our best ever basketballer become one of the best players in the world over the next 10-15 years.

Agree with you that it looks down to GSW, Houston, Cleveland and Boston - but I'd throw OKC in as well. Will be interesting to see where they can take things once their 3 big stars really start to gel.

I can't believe he's 6'10. I do think the Lebron comparisons are extremely premature. Ben's jumpshot needs a lot of improvement. Lebrons wasn't great when he started either but Simmon's long game is almost non-existent and his mid-range game is not so great either. Until he gets that going he will be a limited player. But he's got huge potential and no doubt the work ethic to overcome these things. What he is doing as a rookie is unbelievable.

OKC is interesting. I'm not sure that team will ever gel. But yes, if they do they're as good as anyone. The timberwolves are in that category too. Hopefully some fresh teams are playing in the finals this season

Victor Oladipo is the greatest basketball player of all time. I'd prefer this oladipo than Westbrook.

He's playing some great ball at the moment.

I'm not at all impartial on the topic, but Oladipo won the Oladipo trade.

Not NBA yet, but will be. Amazing athleticism and co-ordination for someone so tall

If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.
