Re: Aus v Philippines basketball brawl .. Wow !
In saying that there was no comparison between the teams. The Australian bench were disciplined enough to stay away, whereas the Filipino bench took it upon themselves to beat down two Australia players on the ground.
They should be tossed out of the qualifying pool. -

And then, to add to the story, after four Australians and NINE Filipinos were ejected, the game farcically continued for the final four minutes with the Filipino team having only three players on the court.Comment

Shocking flagrant foul to bring it on but Kickert's reaction was over the top.

I was watching this live last night, couldn't believe what I was seeing. Kickert's reaction was stupid and he deserves a ban but pretty much the entire Philippine Basketball Association needs to be booted for that. It wasn't just players but officials, coaches, etc throwing punches and kicking players on the ground. Security was nowhere to be seen. Then in the immediate aftermath the Filipino players were laughing and taking selfies. Unbelievable.Comment

Other than Kickert's forearm and Thon Maker's attempted fly kicks (mind you after being punched in the back of the head and they didn't connect anyway), I'm not sure what else Australia did wrong. I have no idea what Goulding and Sobey were ejected, all they appeared to be guilty of was being set upon by around 20 Filipino players, officials and god knows who else.Comment

I will say that Makers flying boots came after he was king hit and then also directed at a mob-attacker on one of his teammates.
Goulding gets under the oppositions’ skins - but there’s nothing illegal about that. In fact, most coaches would see that as a positive.
Aside from being a pest to the opppsition, he has nothing to answer for.
On the Philppines’ behalf, I counted about seven king hits, two thrown chairs, several coaches attacking Goulding and Sobey, mob attacks, gang bashings, and Kickert being chased all over the court.
That followed up by several gangster-style selfies... The Filipinos, who were 30+ points down at the time of the brawl, clearly had nothing to lose.
The chair thrower(s) and offending coaches are staring at lifetime bans. Kickert and Maker are staring at one or two game bans.Comment

One thing is for sure, basketballers are terrible fighters. And it's lucky they are because someone could of got hurt. They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

Even if they hit a pillow would have been more damaging.
Maybe some will be banned for bringing basket ball brawls into disrepute.Bring back the biffComment

It's kind of counter intuitive but you're far less likely to be really hurt by someone who knows how to fight. People who don't normally fight have a terrible sense of proportion and will continue to reign blows long after they have done damage whereas someone who knows what they are doing will hurt you once and back down and if you stay down they tend to be happy. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment
