First Test - Australia v Sri Lanka, Brisbane

So the Aussie side is out, we've gone with:

    Burns
    Harris
    Khawaja
    Labuschagne
    Head
    Patterson
    Paine
    Cummins
    Starc
    Richardson
    Lyon

Really exciting to see a couple of good young debutants but wow, you have to feel for Pucovski. Kid has come about as close as you can get to a baggy green.

Richardson is really exciting and brings a different look to the attack. He has a bit of the Dale Steyns about him - a bit shorter, pacey, skiddy but has a wicked bumper. Extremely exciting kid.

Why on earth name Pucovski and not play him?

It's an interesting one. If you're purely going on batting averages at first class level Wade is in ahead of a few there (Labuschne for a start), so I thought we were giving a talented youngster a taste based on his ceiling.

My guess is they did intend on playing him but changed their minds with the form of Patterson. I think they wanted to play one of Burns or Renshaw to move Khawaja back to 3 and were committed to Loosebuschange (although I can't see Marnus holding a spot in the short-medium term).

The only reason has to be that Patterson has knocked the door down for the selectors

because they just do whatever they want. Burns and Renshaw scored 7 & 4 in the first innings and 10 & 22 in the second innings and we've called up Burns. Its baffling.

At least they picked Richardson over Siddle.

On Marnus - didn't we just do away with a guy with a good technique, a habit of losing concentration and getting himself out, who also bowled a bit of spin? I don't understand the obsession when Maxwell, a better version of the same player (plus the obvious ball striking advantage) has had his papers stamped.

It's almost like the selectors don't know what they are doing.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Apparently Pucovski's uncle tweeted that he was told he was playing, so all his friends and family arranged to fly up for the game, then they changed their minds at the last minute and picked someone that wasn't even in the squad.

Don't worry, they'll just deny it and make the player out to be dishonest in public.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Richardson's a bloody good kid, isn't he? If he has a massive series, you wonder what they do come Ashes time.

Drop Starc the way he's been travelling.

I've caught some glimpses so far and he is doing very well.
I think they should have played Tremain but you can't be critical of the way Richardson has bowled so far.

It would be good to wrap this up quickly and it's frustrating to watch so far.

I don't like this. We bowled well but fielded poorly and that usually means we will bat poorly. I really hope that I am wrong but I can see us getting shot out here.
