Unfortunately Khawaja is a liability in the field.

Not that I only want to focus on his mistakes, but Paine should've gloved that relatively simple chance that he made look really difficult.

How good was that catch by Bancroft?

6/201 at tea. English losing wickets regularly, but scoring at a decent clip. Siddle really hasn't been able to put the brakes on the way we would have liked. Cummins has been a little erratic as well. We really have been flattered by Hazelwood's line and the English top order's inability to leave he ball. A score of sub 250 would be great. Sub 300 competitive.

Warner needs to make runs in the second innings, otherwise his position needs to be looked at.

If Bancroft fails again who gets dropped first?

Well Bancroft has the chance to make some runs tonight at least. Warner misses out

Re Warner, I posed the question to some mates last test whether he was past it as a test batsman? I think he may be. The mode of his dismissals is concerning and the fact that Broad seems to have his number is also a worry. I would back him for Headingly, but if Harris makes some runs in the next tour game (post headingly) then I would be inclined to make a call.

Re Bancroft, his bad pad fielding may just save him for the series. If he can get a minor score in the first innings 30 to 70 runs he will be safe.

Kerry O'Keeffe (and probably Twodogs) would have been genuinely excited to see such a difficult chance taken

Can you imagine of sub continent tracks having the likes of Bancroft and Labuschagne around the bat for Lyon?

Bancroft needs to peel off a century soon to stop the wolves nipping away at him. 50's or 60's won't be enough for so many people

I think the issue with Bancroft is that it's a technical frailty rather than a form thing. His foot comes across his body and is heavy down the wicket, and that squares him up to anything fourth-stump line.

Once a side finds a way to exploit your weakness - as we saw with Handscomb and Finch - the only way to rectify it is generally to go back to state cricket and spend time re-working your technique. Bancroft had a really good opportunity to do that through his suspension but it doesn't look like there's been a change in how he plays.

Khawja looks really good this morning - I think he's in very great touch. He gets into these spells of real fluency when he's at his best, I think he's close to that.
