Sam Kerr wins 2nd NWSL MVP, 3rd Golden Boot

Australian soccer superstar Sam Kerr has been named most valuable player of America’s NWSL on the eve of leading the Chicago Red Stars in the championship game.

    Dead. Set. Freak.

She's the first woman to win the award twice and has won Golden Boot 3 years running.

When you consider that the USA are women's world champions and the strength of the U.S. College system, its a truly phenomenal achievement.

And that Marta is playing the game at the same time as Kerr. If you are getting awards ahead of her then you are doing something right.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

A lot of talk she'll end up at Chelsea.

Australian captain Sam Kerr has shown why she is one of the world’s best footballers, leading a masterclass on a historic day for women’s football in this country.

A brace against Chile, in front of a record crowd for a standalone Matildas match, takes Sam Kerr to 40 goals in 40 games for the calendar year, combining her Perth Glory, Chicago Red Stars and Matildas matches.

Nice goal too. Beautiful pass (it must have been good because all the Arsenal defenders stood there and admired it!)

Watching this morning I got a sense4 of deja vu. When Jorginho scored I count 7 arsenal defenders stading in the box holding their *!*!*!*!ing hands in the air looking at the linesman.

Don't worry about the *!*!*!*!ing linesman-they love wiggling their little flags if it's even close to onside and they don't need seven *!*!*!*!ing Arsenal players to help them decide. How about they watch the near post and the long ball that's heading straight for the attacking player moving toward it?

Drives me nuts when players do that rather than focusing 100% on the player with the ball.
Same when a player goes down and carries on about not getting a free. Get up off your #@#$@#$! arce and get that ball back for your team.

Just play to the whistle. Not a hard concept.

That being said, Australian Football is one of the few sports in the world where you don't always play to the whistle.

There are a couple of posters on WOOF who have played touch footy with me. Ask them how rolling around on the ground looking at the umpire works out for them.

It's simpler to play to the whistle-let the ref/umpy take all the blame
