    RIP Bob Willis

Former England captain and one time leading test wicket taker Bob Willis died after a battle with cancer yesterday.

Hands up who used to imitate his run up in the nets at cricket training? It was always Thommo and Bob Willis that everyone copied. Bob Willis is the only England captain to have added to his birth name when he added Dylan to honour Dylan Thomas the poet. He went from RG Williis to RGD Willis.

    Condolences to the family.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Vale Bob, as TD said would there would not have been a young cricketer from our generation who didn't try to bowl a delivery imitating Bob's unique style..

Tweeted a photo of Willis getting him out
Pretty certain Willis racially abused Viv in the 70’s

Could have been. Bob Dylan took the name from Dylan Thomas anyway so it's much of a muchness really. He was born Bob Zimmerman from memory, there was a Sydney band called the Zimmermen-they were pretty good.

Had a lot of time for Bob Willis. Gave his all and was often the lone hand for England. Thanks for being part of my childhood. RIP Bob.

Bob Willis added Dylan as a tribute to Bob Dylan and Bob Dylan has denied that Dylan came from Dylan Thomas, although he has been vague about why he chose Dylan. Nobody seems to know for sure.
