A great article on the drawn Trans Tasman test in 1987, when Mike Whitney held out Sir Richard Hadlee in the last over to salvage a draw.

I watched that in the lounge room of a woman I worked with called Jean Brown in Chirnside street in West Footscray. Jean worked as the receptionist at Yarraville CES (we didn't really need a receptionist and CES offices didn't actually have receptionists and Jean was way past the age of retirement but she had been the current departmental secretary's PA for years so she got to work past the retirement age because she was the only bread winner for her brother and sister-they all lived in the hoiuse they grew up in. Basically all she did was gather the mail and make people cups of tea but she was extra to our staff roster so it didn't really matter what she did)

But anyway I stopped at Jean's house to drop some grocerys off that she had bought and I had carried home for her. Her brother Billy was in the lounge room watching the test match so I sat down to watch the final wicket fall and I was still sitting there 20 minutes later thinking much the same thing as Mike Whitney was.

But the thing about Mike Whitney. He was never beaten without a hell of a fight, and I'd had more confidence in him in surviving that over more than I would have backed in some of the batsmen in that team. Whitney was a competitor.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
