A couple of errors and that was ball game. Well done to the women's team to get to a semi

I'm a soccer ball dilettante but thta was like watching a western Bulldogs game. Choked up forward line and an opponent that hurt us out the back.

Why would Luke Beveridge do that?

England was awesome right through it and it took some Sam Kerr brilliance to give us a chance.

Quality game, I didn't enjoy the result but the standard was impressive.

Great World Cup from the Matildas. We still should be really proud but tonight England were the much better team. Sam Kerr goal was just great to give us a chance.

I believe the Matildas are on the same pay parity as the Socceroos which at the time was probably seen as a great deal but based on what we have seen and the excitement and interest they've generated now seems to be way unders.

Probably out of legs from the quarter final. Squad not deep enough in quality. Polkinghorne good sub defender but maybe not starter.

Same Kerr, that could have been one of the greatest moments in Australian Sporting history. A goal from nothing for the ages. Just pure magic.

But Ellie Carpenter blew her lines.

World Cup Semi Finals are almost impossible to make for the strongest of footballing nations. To make one on home soil. One chance in a century.

Yes. They outplayed us. But we had a super woman. Sam Kerr created something to drag us back into it. But we just didn?t take our chance from such a poor defensive preventable error. That will hurt for a long time. There is no next time. There is no next year or four years time. That moment is gone. That will hurt forever.

When we will ever get the chance to make the World Cup Final on home soil?

Who cares where you win a World Cup if you win it?
Brazil never won a home World Cup.

12 months ago the side looked like being an embarrassment at the tournament. Semi’s is a great achievement

I thought the keeper also erred there - she came out too far

Beg to differ there. Carpenter and a bit of hunt’s fault. The ball was at her feet. Arnold had a Great tournament, very good in the air.

England were very clinical. Yes we made mistakes at the back, but you've gotta hand it to their finishing. It was the difference.

Phenomenal effort and goal from Kerr - regardless of the result, that's a moment that will never be forgotten. Happy she got that.

Disappointed to lose, we had our chances and there's no guarantee we ever get back to this level, but hats off to the Matildas for elevating football in this country. That was seriously great to watch.

1 goal down in play for third spot after penalty for accidental trip

                              Always a penalty.
Lack of depth cost Australia dearly. Semis are a great result but you it’s hard to win tournaments with only 3 defenders(1 old 1 injured and 1 inexperienced) and 2 central midfielders. The coaches failure to develop player 2 years out cost us.
Again semis is a great achievement but we lost as many games as we won.

Never said it wasn't a penalty.

Kennedy could have made a difference to defence.

I think they did well, but need a new coach. Great achievement for Australian Women's sport.
