    Shield Cricket 2021/22

Slow start to the season with some lock downs in place.
It will ramp up soon enough

Nice win by Vics over NSW. Maddison with 128, and 33. Is he ready to come back into Test cricket?

It probably means a showdown with Travis Head for the number 5 spot.
Is Boland in the mix if one of our quicks gets injured?

I really hope someone younger than a 32 yr old Boland puts his hand up. We're in trouble long term if that's the best we've got.
I'd like to hope Jhye Richardon or even Steketee could stake a claim at some stage.

Richardson is being eased back into it. I wonder if he has enough bowling behind him.
Steketee might be the bolter given Neser isn't playing at the moment.

I think Riley Meredith is on the radar as he brings genuine pace, even though he can be a bit erratic.

Tasmania are playing tomorrow against SA and he has a chance to enhance his case
Richardson also plays tomorrow against QLD so he could also play himself in the mix.

Joel Paris could be another who puts his name forward. Having a good start to the year, looks to have his injuries behind him, after a horror run.
He looked like a very good prospect several years ago, and was picked early for some ODIs. Whippy left armer. Has done well this morning in Brisbane (very humid conditions today). Has 2 for 5 so far, picking up Labuschagne for a golden duck.

QLD dismissed for 129 against WA
Khawaja made 70 with Paris taking 2 wickets, Richardson 3 and Morris 4

WA is now 2 for 103.

SA is 2 for 27 against TAS that was slowed by rain.
                    Meredith not playing for TAS

Khawaja would have done his chances for a test recall no harm today.

                      Top order of:

                      Pukowski
                      Warner
                      Labuschagne
                      Smith
                      Khawaja
                      Green

Looks good on paper. I would play an in form Khawaja over Travis Head. I am losing faith in him being able to elevate his game.

Pucovski is out for a while with another concussion so I wonder if Harris is in the mix.

Jhye Richardson was impressive in WA's win against QLD with 8 wickets for the game. Phillppe with 129
Steketee nabbed 4 wickets in the 1st inning abainst WA

SA vs TAS is heading towards a draw with a lot of play lost with rain
Henry Hunt scored 134 in the first inning for SA and is currently 15no in the 2nd

I heard that yes HArris was again locked in for the opening spot. Personally I think its the wrong decision.

It was an interesting play by George Bailey to nominate him so early. A vote of confidence might do him wonders but why not wait.
