Re: 2nd Test Australia v South Africa, MCG Boxing Day 2022
I'd stick with Boland. I think a lot of the success he's had is because of the variety he brings to the attack and its been useful for the side as a whole.
It must feel like such a relief as a batter to get through Starc and Cummins - two 6'3 guys bowling 140+, getting steepling bounce and challenging your outside edge. Boland is the perfect foil after that - a little shorter and slower but bowling a fuller length that makes you play or attacks stumps and pads.
I think you get a lot of what Hazlewood brings already with Cummins and to a lesser extent Green, so would stick with variety in the attack at the moment.
I also really like Cummins with the new ball and think not having Josh in the side lets Cummins feel more comfortable promoting himself.Comment

Boland if I were a selector. He is in very good form and will be a difficult option for the South Africans to counter.
Hazlewood to my way of thinking has missed too much cricket and given his absenteeism he has now relinquished his almost automatic selection position.
To be honest this should be an easy choice for the selectors.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

I often have heard about the honor amongst the spin bowlers union and a pace bowlers cartel but there must not be anything too formal with allrounders as Simon O'Donnell is constantly pointing out the lean patch Cam Green is going through.
With discussions around how and when David Warner should be eased out of the test team at what point does Green's position in the team start to get a bit more scrutiny? No doubt he is an exciting prospect but who could or should fill his spot if his lean run continues?Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

This off Twitter
In the last 13 tests Australia has played Josh Hazelwood has played in just 3 of them and taken 5 wickets at 48.
In the same time frame Scott Boland has played 5 tests and taken 25 wickets at 10.3. Why is it even a discussion on who plays on Boxing Day? Boland is no brainer.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

They've called that early. Thanks for the update.
I've heard that Hazlewood should return for the Sydney test but unless Boland has a shocker that shouldn't be the case.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

I really feel like your reputation precedes your form in cricket more than any other sport. Completely shocked Boland has been retained.- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -Comment
