    Aaron Finch

Finch has retired from all International cricket. He did exceptionally well to captain Australia

Lets hope he has a good couple of years for the Vics.

    From Cricket.com

Aaron Finch – Australia's longest-serving and most successful T20I captain and batter – has called time on his international career, conceding his body can no longer withstand the rigours of the short-format game at the highest level.

Finch will continue to play in the KFC BBL and is expected to confirm he's signed a further one-year contract with Melbourne Renegades – where he earned Team of the Year selection as a middle-order batter this summer – and will also consider options to play in overseas T20 competitions.

But having retired as captain of Australia's ODI outfit last year after a much-publicised struggle for form in the 50-over arena, he now walks away from international cricket having played almost 250 white-ball matches and five Tests for his country across a 12-year career.

Finch is the only Australia men's player to date to play more than 100 T20 Internationals (103), and in addition to being its most-capped skipper (76 matches) led his team to the nation's first T20 World Cup triumph in the UAE in 2021.

The 36-year-old also holds the record for the highest T20I score among all nations – an extraordinary 172 from 76 balls faced against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2018 – and has scored more runs (3120) than any other Australia batter, ahead of his long-time opening partner David Warner (2894).

    Re: Aaron Finch

Has had an excellent white ball career but feels like the right call.

Not sure he will play much for Victoria and probably not much point in him taking the spot of a young player. He will likely be doing a superannuation tour of the world T20 leagues.

Bit of a shame with Handscomb in India and Maxwell injured but he was never a great Shield cricketer. I think he was only averaging 35 in SS when he was picked for Australia.

At least least Maxwell is reportedly close to returning. There was talk he may have played shield this week although in the end he wasn't named in the squad. Hasn't played first class cricket in over 3 years but hopefully we see him before he returns to the ODI team in India after the test series.

Great player for Australia. Endearing memory is me putting one down 10 rows back at a T20 game at the Oval........£1,000 poorer as a result.
