Australia finish the day at 5 for 311 and still trail England's first inning by 82 runs.
Frustrating to see Moeen Ali claim the wickets of Head and Green after both batsman were well set.

Khawaja carried the bat and finished with 126no along with a solid performance from Carey with 52no.
We will likely need some resolve from the tail enders to close the gap and hopefully get a few runs in front.

In a better position than I thought with Marnus and Smith out cheaply.

Khawaja was exceptional. It's his sort of pitch without much lateral side movement, but his use of the pull shot put the pressure back on England's quicks. Anything even marginally shot and he was right onto it.

I think Nathan Lyon will have watched with interest. Ali and Root both found some turn and it's only getting to get more dusty. England slightly ahead for me at the moment, but another 50 partnership between these two and the pendulum will start to swing back our way.

Now to bowl them out cheaply.

If the next couple of wickets fall quickly we will see how committed England is to Bazball.
The first hour tonight could tell story.

Been a ripping watch. I stuck it out to 3am Saturday night, Uzzie obviously brilliant, but gee Cam Green and Carey struck the ball well. Going to be really important for them to contribute throughout the series. We know in all likelihood Marnus and Smith will get runs - but 6&7 pitching in will be really important.

Ha. So true. We invented it. Reinvented it. Made a new artform of it. Took it to preposterous new heights before the world and most of Australia turned on it. The pot calling the kettle black.

At the same time you can't sook about sledging/ giving send-offs and then sledge/ give send-offs yourself. It voids all your previous posturing and sooking, and makes you fair game.

I didn't think it was too bad, and nothing that doesn't pop up from time to time. But England now don't have a perch to position themselves on, let's test out their glass jaws.
                          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Was it Australian or English journos asking the questions of Robinson? I've only read the reports.

To me it isn't the send off so much (although I'm not a fan of send offs in general), more that it was to a bloke who has just made 140. It was just silly.

Didn't Robinson tell him to f**k off? I thought sending off a bloke who's slapped you around for three and a half sessions was a weird move, but Robinson didn't say anything racist.
