Really poor batting performance and while the bowlers made an impressive start we just didn't have enough runs to defend.

We've just got some really poor players of spin in this side and not enough effective spinners around the squad. I don't think anyone gets close to India in this World Cup, but I can't see us pushing too far.

The dropped catches were horrid, it’s not like they were hard for test cricketers .
Inglis looked like an overweight amateur coming up against Mohammed Ali .
How the hell did he even get in the squad ?

Re: Men's ODI World Cup 2023

Dropped catches, sloppy fielding and a disorganised batting line-up has resulted in two disappointing losses.

This is an experienced side, in fact the CA contract list doesn't have a lot of youngsters in it, and we should be expecting a more competitive results.

It's early days in this tournament but we will need to improve a fair bit to still be around the mark at the pointy end.

Probably two of the worst performances you'll see from an Australian side. Agree with Ledge, the fielding was awful and said a lot about our mindset.

It's damning that this is a World Cup and none of the players seem there mentally. I think that speaks to the huge schedule they've come off as well as the general degradation of ODI cricket in favour of T20, but wow, you expect a lot more than this.

I personally think that one day cricket is as good as dead, but you'd hope a side with Warner, Smith, Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood could muster some kind of whimper at a World Cup.

It’s a shame, but I agree on the 50 over game being dead.

A few of the other teams have had huge schedules and they are going well .
I think that’s a piss poor excuse. then if you don’t play games you say they didn’t play enough lead up games .
Should play as much as you can.
Fact is the team now relies on older players and the head coach is soft.
The captain is a shocking choice he falls apart when the opposition puts the pressure on . Bowls short shite , fielding positions go all over the place.
How could you not take khawaja ?
How could you not take Murphy and take Zampa ?
Seems like a made up team of favourites.
Warner stoinis and Maxwell it’s a hundred in 60 balls or it’s nothing . None of them can adjust to just staying out there if early wickets fall, they just keep the collapse going .
Smith and Lauberchagne seem ti be the only ones who value their wicket when it’s needed .
As much as bazball is questioned it’s kinda half arse bazball with this team . Are we or aren’t we let’s hedge our bets .
Also playing in India and play one specialist spinner !

Was watching that match last night but didn't watch it all.

                        Huge win for Afghanistan.

We've had a good 10 overs or so and have taken some wickets and curbed their run-rate after a sluggish start.
Cummins lifted his bowling. We need to keep up the momentum we have been able to wrestle back from them.
