    Champions League draw

    The Champions League draw takes place tonight in Monaco.

    There are 32 teams who will be split into 8 groups of 4 teams.

    Prior to the draw the remaining 32 teams were seeded. The top 8 seeds form pot 1, seeds 9-16 form pot 2, seeds 17-24 form pot 3 & seeds 25-32 form pot 4.

    Each of the 8 groups will have one team from each pot.

    The four pots are as follows:

    Pot one
    Manchester Utd
    Chelsea
    Liverpool
    Barcelona
    Arsenal
    Lyon
    Inter Milan
    Real Madrid

    Pot two
    Bayern Munich
    PSV Eindhoven
    Villarreal
    AS Roma
    FC Porto
    Werder Bremen
    Sporting Lisbon
    Juventus

    Pot three
    Marseille
    Zenit St Petersburg
    Steaua Bucharest
    Panathinaikos
    Bordeaux
    Celtic
    Basel
    Fenerbahce

    Pot four
    Shakhtar Donetsk
    Fiorentina
    Atletico Madrid
    Dynamo Kiev
    CFR Cluj

      Arsenal & Liverpool have to play qualifier's to make the main draw yet are seeded in the top group. Doesn't seem right.

          The seedings are based on performance in Europe over recent seasons. Both sides have regularly performed very well in Europe. I know what you mean tho.

          Incidently, who do you follow Mantis?

              No-one really, but I do watch a fair bit off it and normally just pick a side to follow in any given game.

              Used to follow Leeds United before they turned into a basket case.

                  I'd watch Leeds in the early naughties and hope Viduka/Kewell would score more than they win. Knew they hadn't connected.

                                                          Yeah, real tragedy...Love to hate AC with almost as much venom as I do Richmond...or maybe Collingwood is a more apt comparison.

                                                          Compelling draw on paper, all groups bar perhaps 'B' could roll any number of ways.
