Rugby World Cup Aus v Kiwis

Thought i might start up a thread in the lead up to the final, doubt New Zealand has much of a chance but occasionaly they can pull something out of the box.
Good signs for the aussie in the semi though Fiji put up a bit of a fight. New Zealand had a much tighter encounter against England but a late try from Benji Marshall sealed the win.

Not sure how they can call it a World cup when only 3 teams have a realistic chance of winning it.
      Tri series.

Or, we could move it to the 'Rugby League fans like me and a shitload of others' basket.

Leave those who are interested to discuss it.

New Zealand are a far better side than they've shown in recent years, they've got some fantastic talent.

I'll agree that the RL World Cup is something of a farce, but consider this:
        • 20 years ago the thought of Sri Lanka being competitive on the world stage in cricket was laughed upon. 10 years later they were World Champions.
        • 10 Years ago Argentina were considered Rugby minnows, last year they were World Cup semi-finalists. Italy are also highly competitive at international level.
        • 30 years ago it would be considered heresy to think that the Socceroos would be competitive at the World Cup. We were put out by the eventual champions by a shonky decision, having been on the end of plenty along the way

As cliched as it sounds, minnows will only improve by playing against quality opposition.

I think Rugby League is a wonderful game to be played in schools. It means those big, awkward, unco kids can play contact sport.

Big man catches a 1 metre pass, gets tackled by another big man.
          Repeat.

I can't handle league and prefer Union by a fair margin but it has slipped backwards a fair bit over the last couple of seasons.

It has improved since the world cup i think, it was starting to go fairly downhill with teams kicking most of their score.

Gee your taking this all a bit too seriously.

I actually like RL and would watch the games in this WC if they were shown at a reasonable time and not as an after thought.

Not long ago there was a great match where i think Darren Lockear scored a try in golden point to win the series. I liked watching that.

                          That's channel 9's problem.

I must be mistaken in thinking it's the viewing public's problem as they are the one's being short changed.

Channel 9 are just the creator's of the problem.

I should have added 'to fix'.

What I was implying was that the coverage (or lack thereof) and the quality of the sport are not linked, and that 9 have butchered their coverage of the sport for a decade.
