    Vics vs WA

I see the Vics cleaned have the Warriors on the ropes today and they are all out for 211. Wight had a good day taking 4 wickets but I was a little surprised to see that we had Quiney batting at 7, Wade at 8 and just 3 strike bowlers after that. I know both White and McDonald can bowl but given they are primarily batsman I find it strange not to have the extra strike bowler.

The only thing I can think of is that with Siddle heading off to the West we just preferred the extra batsman.

Well, if White is good enough to be considered a frontline bowler for the Australian team...

Vics did it tough early but fought back well by the end of the day to take 1st innings points.

The bushrangers were 4/59 with Jewell, Rogers, Hodge and Hussey all out before White (51) and MacDonald (60) put on 107 to get close.

The Bushies then lost 4/27 and were 8 for still needing another 19.

Wright (60) and McKay (45) then put on an even 100 for the 9th wicket not only giving the Vics 2 points but also an 85 run lead.

WA are 1/42 at stumps with Marsh gone.

I was critical of the Vic's throwing Wright a lifeline but he has been in terrific form. He has gotten the side out of a few holes with his bowling and batting.

Anyone else a tad dissapointed with Marsh's form as of late?

Considering his last 4 knocks have all been against Victoria, no.

              Bushies slayed 'em.

              WA all out for 140
Vic's win by 8 wickets and put daylight between them and the rest.

Look at it for the greater good Sockeye.

Marsh is, as of our last match against Bangladesh, our incumbent ODI opener. I would like to see him doing better domestically, so he can look to be further rewarded internationally.

The Bushrangers are far more important to me than the test side. At least the Bushies play in a competition with a real trophy.

AFL sides play for Mickey Mouse trophies like the Border-Gavaskar or Chappell-Hadlee cups every second week.

I might get interested if they played a test cricket world championship. *

                  * Very easy to do if it wasn't for self interest from certain countries (whose names start with India) or if the ICC had any goolies whatsoever.

In whites with Weet-Bix emblazoned on the front and with last names and numbers on the back...

Is that any worse than wearing white with red and blue hoops with a Bulldog emblem and a Leaseplan logo with numbers on the back?

                        Well yes.

Numbers actually serve a purpose in footy...in cricket they just look stupid.

I really can't see how the two are at all comparable.

It can be easily argued that number serve the same propose it cricket.

Having scored a few games with brothers in them, it would have been handy to at least have something to distinguise them.

Or perhaps the two blokes both batting in helmets?

I'd say numbers might help you work out who the fielder was as well.

...and the umpire could report them if they dropped an opposition player behind play.
