    Tait

    Tonight against NSW:

Wicket, Two, Wicket, Dot, Wicket (Swung about two foot to bowl Thornley), Dropped Catch.

A half fit Shaun Tait seems a better prospect than a fit almost everyone-else (Johnsone excluded) to take wickets. Must come back to the one day squad.

No one questions his ability and of course his pace but just recently he said he wanted to concentrate and focus just on T/20 and the 50 over game because the longer 4 and 5 day games were just too draining. I read in the paper today he is offering himself as a replacement for Brett Lee.

I'm happy to see him back in T/20 and limited over squads if his form holds up but he hasn't convinced me yet that he is strong enough above the shoulders to play Test cricket again.

Yeah agree totally. He doesn't seem quite as threatening in the 4/5 day version. But for limited overs, he is a must. I'm sick of this bloody Bollinger love fest. For a guy who has taken only one wicket and that of a tail ender it is sickening...

That inswinging yorker that bowled Thornley was a beauty. Thornley missed it by a foot!

A mentally strong Tait along side Mitch Johnson would be an awesome opening attack for Australia for the next 8-10 years, unfortunatly though................

Don't mind bollinger, he would be more than a handful especially in England with the ball swinging around.

God, that first over was one of the best and spiteful overs i've ever seen bowled. We need him fit and roaring to go. Good signs tonight for a half fit Guy.

I don't know if he can ever be a test bowler though which is extremely disappointing

If he develops into a test player we have some scary fast bowling stocks for the future with Johnson, Siddle, Hilfenhaus and Tait all young and firing.

The only problem with Tait is his fitness...is clearly the quickest on the planet. If he is used in the right manner, that is for no more than five over bursts he could be a real plus in all forms of the game!!

                      Re: Tait

The only way I would have him in the test side is as a shock weapon used in short and sharp 3 over spells. He has the ability to bowl dangerous balls but is too expensive and cannot be bowled in long spells. For this to work you need your all rounders bowling to stand up because you cant have 1 of your 4 bowlers only able to bowl in bursts. I get the feeling that once the batsmen get used to is action and angle they find it a lot easier against him. Using him in bursts with the new ball and later at the first sign of reverse swing is the only way I can see of getting something out of this unique talent at test level.

                        Re: Tait

Flat out speed without late movement is just fodder for the best batsmen these days-they'll just rock onto the back foot and play him square of the wicket. For me that's Tate's biggest drawback and he has a lot of drawbacks.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I think this means he wants to play.

Yep. Since he's been recalled he's started to change his tune.
