    Daniel Vettori

Who else is in love with the guy? Imho he is the best ODI bowler going around and I have a massive thing for cool nerds, just all too much for me really.

I will assume your not taking the piss on this occasion Jason and answer seriously.

For a guy who doesn't spin the ball a great deal he has done amazingly well. He uses his height, change of pace and just general guile brilliantly. I dont think he is the best in the world but he is right up there. I would hate facing him particularly if I had to score at a reasonable rate. Its ok sweating on a loose ball in the longer form but in the shorter form its very hard to innovate against him. He can sense when someone is trying to force a scoring opportunity against him.

No I am definitely not taking the piss. Totally agree with you about how well he has done considering he doesn't spin the ball much at all. I love watching him bowling, especially in ODI's and Twenty20 games where his guile really comes to the fore. He is currently 2nd in the ODI bowling rankings, I guess rating the best bowler is rather relative. Economy wise he is definitely right there. I just love watching the clever bowlers in the shorter version of the game.

Yeah watching him and Gayle this series really shows the polar extremes of cool.

Spinners dont have to spin the ball to be very good bowlers. Take Derek Underwood for instance. Barely span the ball an inch but could do the best batsmen in the World with flight and loop. Vettori is fairly similiar to Deadly Derek.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It's ok Charlie, just the mention of O'Briens name, and things are back to normal!

Although, Edgar & Wright were pretty good opening batsmen.

Sorry Charlie, but I like Jacob Oram as well. The kiwis used to have a bloke called Bond once apon a time, he could bowl.

Hadlee could bowl but he was a wanker.

Anil Kumble retired still trying to discover a leg spinner despite taking 600-odd wickets.

With a name like that and an opening bat he must have been awesome!
He just needed to bat right handed and he could have been as good as the Totty one.
