I think a 30-35 over match would be ideal.
    * If you wanted to persist with 50 over matches, it would be so easy to fix - gradually remove the field restrictions. 2 fielders out for the first 15 overs, 3 until 25 overs, 4 until 35 and then 5 until the end.
I use to enjoy 50 over cricket in the 80's, especially when the great West Indian teams were out here. Gradually they have changed the rules and put on various restrictions and it has become predictable. One way to maybe tweak it abit and incorporate a little of T/20 is to have two innings of 25 overs each and play around with points for scoring X amount (haven't thought it out). This would maybe make things less predictable.

as for T/20, one game every now and then is harmless, but I wouldn't be promoting more than that.

T20 is cricket for non-cricket fans. Because test cricket already preaches to the converted, T20 will continue to grow and develop so that the game can incrementally grow its consumer base outside of the core cricket fan. T20 is popcorn fodder for the instant gratification generation, which means it will be here to stay.

Meanwhile Test cricket continues to provide genuine tension and significance - witness the twists and turns of the recent series. ODI's are in far more long-term trouble than test cricket.

I wish 20/20 was around when the West Indies were at their peak; Now that would be entertainment.

Imagine how many sixes Viv would hit or big Clive, or the opening stance from Haynes and Greenidge, no one would get a hit.

Couldn't agree more G. Don't mind 1 hit and giggle every series but keep it limited.
