Players from Yesteryear you'd love to see play Twenty20

I know this thread, and the topic itself, may amount to sacrilege to some, but someone brought up in the other T20 thread they would have loved to see the 1980s West Indies play T20, and thought that maybe some others might suggest a name or two.

I know this is going way, way back, but Victor Trumper was known to love sending a cricket ball into a new postcode. He was a great test cricketer, but I have an inkling he would have revelled in T20.

Ian Botham and Dean Jones are two more that come to mind.

Graeme Hick, being smaller grounds and the fielding rules he might have done okay.
          Barry Richards.
          Inzumum Al Haq.
          Alan Lamb.

I wonder if the Don would have been any good at it?

Boycott & Tavere just for another reason to laugh at those Poms.

            Seriously though:

Lance was a massive hitter as was Clive Lloyd and Rod Marsh could hit a ball or two

I would love to see the Don play it just to see wether he could adapt.

Love the thought of those two.

I'm thinking Clyde Walcott and Sir Frank Worrell wouldn't have minded it either.

Ledge, I think if the Don had taken up Beach Cricket after retiring like Border and Co have he'd have averaged near 100 in that too.

Kim Hughes was made for T20.

I'm surprised about the love for Dessie Haynes (who was really a test match grafter in the Geoff Marsh mould) and to a lesser extent Gordon Greenidge (he could go a bit but Chris Gayle has him covered for pure hitting). IMO though, Roy Fredericks has them all covered easily. Fredericks hit the 2nd ball of the Perth test (from Dennis Lillee if you don't mind!) in 75/76 out of the WACA on his way to 160.

I only saw Pollock in an exhibition game when he was an old man but he still hit a cover drive so hard it bounced back off the fence 3/4 of the way back to the fielder.

                        Roy Fredericks
                        Chris Gayle
                        Viv Richards
                        Graeme Pollock
                        Kim Hughes
                        Gary Sobers
                        Ian Botham
                        Adam Gilchrist
                        Shane Warne
                        Joel Garner
                        Curtly Ambrose

*Edit: I just checked the scorecard from that test to make sure I had the right one. Our bowling figures were:

                        Lillee 2/123
                        Thomson 3/128
                        Gilmour 2/103
                        Walker 2/99
                        Mallett 0/103

The 4 fast bowlers bowled 1 maiden between them (to Walker)!

Yes & no. Greenidge was up against better quality bowlers in my view.

                            What? In the nets?

Greenidge certainly played with better quality bowlers. There were plenty of pie chuckers around in Greenidge's time as well.
