    Bushies v Redbacks

After a good start (1-177 at one stage, Jewell 105) the Vics lost 6-105 to be 7-282 and looked to be heaading for a score well under par for the conditions. Wright and McKay added 101 for the 8th wicket and the Vics managed 400.

SA recovered from 4-132 to 4-258 at stumps last night by Andrew McDonald has picked up 3 wickets this morning to have SA 7-278.

Unless Manou is prepared to declare behind the Vics score and go for an outright, this looks to be heading for a draw.

For those with an eye on the South African tour, Klinger made 48 and so far McGain has 0-55 off 12.

I see Darren Berry in today's age is questioning why we are again playing two keepers in the same game. A real indictment on the young batsman at the district level I would have thought.

As for the game, yes we failed to capitalise on a good position against a weaker side. With Ferguson, Christian and Cleary gone already today SA will need a blinder by someone to catch the Vics score.

Manou is playing his annual decent innings and might just be that man, 111no.

      SA 7/328.

60 odd runs to get with 3 wickets to go. Manou has made a very good century.

          You were saying....

          Fair knock by Graham.

The Redbacks have declared at 9/348.

I can't see a result in this one but the 2 points for Victoria could be handy.

It needed a blinder and Manou nearly provided it.

Not sure what the fact that Crosswaite is a keeper has to do with anything. He has been picked as a batsmen so the fact that he also keeps has bugger all to do with it. His batting is the only thing that needs to be judged here. Keeping is irrelevant.

Come on. Do you think he's that good a batsman? I think it's somewhat sad we don't have someone else in line

His keeping is irrelevant in this instance however, for a guy that has been anchored to the number 7 or 8 for a few seasons with the Vics to now to be played as the number 6 it is either:
                      A) a poor reflection on the standard of young district cricket batsman.
                      or
                      B) a poor reflection on the selectors who cannot make up their mind which one out of Wade or Crosthwaite they actually want so they play both as some sort of showdown.

On judging his batting, he is simply not a number 6 at the state level so why the hell is he being played there?

He made 100 and 70-odd in the 2nd XI match. There the sort of numbers a batman gets promoted on.

Also the numbers Mark Higgs gets.

Mash has done well in that cup too. Why not him? (The quality of the cup doesn't seem that great though)

Thats fair enough as long as we are judging him on his batting.
