I see Marcus North made a couple of 50's in the game against the SA Presidents level and then chimed in with a 6 wicket haul. Unless the pitch for the first test is a green top he has probably got his nose in front of McDonald for the first test.

Re: North stakes a claim
North is a better bat than McDonald, and could probably do just as good a job with the ball, he'd have to get a game.Comment

Re: North stakes a claim
They could possibly leave out Mcgain, go with the four quicks and leave North to the spin duties. Pitch will probably be helpful to the quick men so my XI would be:
Hughes
Katich
Ponting
Clark
Hussey
North
Haddin
Johnson
Siddle
Bolinger
HilfenhausComment

Really looking forward to seeing how young Hughes goes, so much as been written about him, i haven't really seen that much of him to make a call either way, but good luck to the kid.

If it comes down to Bolinger and Hilfenhaus who gets selected? Honestly I don't think either of them have done enough and the jury is still out on the quality of Johnson and Siddle to carry the side.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: North stakes a claim
Tough one, just not sold on Hilf as yet, he can bowl well at times, but then get belted around pretty badly, sees to lose confidence far too easily at this stage.
Probably just go for Bolinger at this stage, has a little mongrel in him, close call though.Comment

Maybe that's just a one day thing. Stuart Clark showed last time we were in SA how different it is bowling with the red ball.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment
