Nba - Which Team And Why

I have some friends that are big on the NBA, and i kinda want to get into following it aswell.

I was hoping you guys could tell me who you follow and why, aswell as any ideas on who i could follow? I like the Eastern states more, and would love to know if there is a team similar to the bulldogs over there, that is :low fanbase, working class roots, exciting team and gamestyle.

It was the Seattle Sonics but they were taken away from me. I can't follow any other team now and the NBA just doesn't seem the same anymore.

I started following the Bulldogs when I was about 3 or 4 and it was just because I loved Dogs that was the only influence as everyone in my family barracked for different teams. The Sonics were the same, the name sounded cool (Supersonics back then) and it just stuck to me. Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton made it easy to keep a bond with the team and I enjoyed some pretty successful season through out the 90's. Unfortunatly they never really took out the big one though. Bloody Denver!

I'm not sure on teams similar to ours over there, even the poorer teams are well funded by rich owners. Detroit has always represnted the "Working Class" over the years but have a very strong supporter base. Maybe New Jersey? Charlotte? Indiana?

If you start following Oklahoma City though I'll hunt you down!!

        Chicago Bulls.

Played a lot of junior Basketball when i was younger, and loved MJ & Pippen. Have stuck with them since the glory days, when a lot of people i know jumped off.

Hopefully Derrick Rose can bring some of the glory days back

I haven't followed an NBA team in years because so many of the players annoy me. I prefer watching College or European basketball now.

Before that I was a Warriors and Celtic fan. If I have to watch it I'd like to have a look at the Rockets or the Magic.

I'm a Celtics fan; not jumping on the bandwagon from last season (I have the Ricky Davis hand-puppet I made in Grade 6 to prove it).

All because of the episode of Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place, where they steal the '81 championship banner .

anyone give me a bit of background on the Minnesota Timberwolves? It's so hard to pick a team, i thought that at least Wolves are close to Bulldogs

I know Andrew Gaze played for them years ago ... got a championship ring one season with them IIRC

Not sure, but I think Shane Heal played for them as well

Were competitive for a long while with Kevin Garnett in the middle, traded him to the Celtics a couple of seasons ago and have essentially been a lower rung team since. Not one of the richer clubs but you certainly couldn't be accused of jumping on a bandwagon.

I've supported the Cavs on and off due to my youthful fascination with Craig Ehlo, Brad Daugherty and Mark Price and Andre Miller later on, not to mention the cool logo they used to have where the V looked like a basket with the ball going in. Ehlo will always be remembered as the guy underneath a famous Michael Jordan jumper in the Eastern Conference championships many years ago, however he had a sweet 3 point shot on him and was part of a Cavs team that may have been a champion if it weren't for "His Airness". I've kind of lost touch in recent years but apparently they have this guy playing for them who's quite good. Hopefully he helps them win a Championship before he becomes a Knick.
Also have soft spots for the Knick's because I love New York and the Clippers because they suck so much.

Gaze played for the Spurs and got a Championship there.

I've always been a Bulls man. When I was very young - Dad had a newsagency and one of the paperboys was right into the NBA and he got me into Jordan and the Bulls in the late 80's. They are an up and coming team with a championship window ahead of them.

With the way players get traded around in the NBA - its sometimes hard to stick with certain teams. I quite liked Phoenix due to Steve Nash - but liked Shawn Marion also - but went off the Suns when he was traded for Shaq.

I tend to follow clubs that I have bet on though! I backed the Cavs to win the championship this year at 8.00, so they are certainly my team at the minute.

Shane Heal sat on their bench for a little while as well, way post Longley though.

Very little history. They were an Expansion Team way back in the late 80's along with Orlando, Miami and Charlotte (Hornets) and have really not enjoyed much success at all apart from some playoff appearances. 2003 or 2004 I believe they made the Western Confernce Finals.

They're a very young side. Al Jefferson is one of the best bigs going around today. He is one reason to follow them. Foye is an exciting guard and Love is a nice old school PF which is why I think McHale loves him so much. Mike Miller is also there who I'm a big fan of, not sure if they'll keep him around though?

They are a long way off on being a strong team in terms of winning but they are a small market team and would fit into the criteria that you were looking for, although they are a Western Conference team.

Longley was drafted by the Wolves in 1991 with pick #7. Shane Heal played there in 1997 and only played 43 games

Just looking at their Draft history for the info above about Longley they made a horrible decision swapping Foye for Roy on draft night. Foye is a decent player but he is no Brandon Roy.

Well guys iv made my decision...

Iv chosen to go for Portand. From what i understand they have a good young team and have some very good players. Unfortunately, they are probably jus a little to small to see on ONE HD unless they are playing the lakers.

Wondering if anyone else has an opinion on the Trailblazers, or if anyone else supports them?
