It confirms what everyone who has some understanding of the game thinks of him.

They would be better off playing McDonald and using a combination of North, Clarke & Katich as the spin options.

Do you think after Lee's performance, Ponting will justify including him?

This performance means that he will definitely get picked (he probably would have anyway). How he goes in the test match will determine if it was the right decision.

It seems at present that Johnson, Siddle & Lee are all certainities to play (Lee as 1st change bowler) The final spot will come down to Clark or Hauritz, but I would prefer McDonald who offers something a little different.

Is Hauritz just bowling arm balls? He literally did not turn a ball for long periods of time, and when he did get some purchase it was barely off square.

If he plays the first Test at Cardiff (which is supposed to be flat as a pancake and a pitch where spinners have averaged 45 this season) the Pom’s middle order will have a field day.

Correct me if wrong but I believe McDonald hasn't played in either lead up game, say he is no chance then.
He has done very little wrong since selected for the last test in Australia yet he is first dropped.

It's easy to tell who Ponting classes as a mate. McDonald obviously isn't.

No, that is just how he bowls.

He is a 'nudist' of the highest order.

He’s obviously over there as the token slow bowler, and someone who will purely be used to tie up an end.

Why kid himself by trying to give the ball air, hoping to squeeze out a semblance of spin in the hope of the batsman misjudging the fraction of off break he might somehow manage.

He’d be more useful firing darts into the batsman’s pads and bowling to a legside field. At least he’d stop leaking runs and might even snag a wicket if the batsmen gets bored and tries something stupid (i.e. Kevin Petersen).

Krejza may spray them, but at least he can honestly claim himself as a ‘spinner’.

This sort of crap is starting to bore me, who dont you think Ponting is selecting on merit?

That can be the job of M.Clarke or North.

Hauritz needs to be able to take wickets if he is to stay in the team.

                            Can't see it happening.

Wouldn't the Poms have seen dozens of bowlers like McDonald?

But when you are comparing him to a pie-chucker like Hauritz and a recovering Clark I still think he would offer something.
