    ICC Champions Trophy

The Aussies had a hard fought win last night in their game against the West Indies.

Thanks to some lusty hitting by Mitch Johnson when we were struggling we made 275. Johnson made 73 of 47 and the West Indies fell 50 runs short after a promising start.

In another game, Pakistan score 302 runs and had a good win against India.

I watched the 'highlights' today. We were very nearly beaten by the worst team in world cricket. Not a confident win at all. With the Paki's and Indians we wll need to improve, which includes retiring MHuss at once.

I think you might have had a different view had you seen the action live.

The pitch for the first half of the Australian innings was absolutely treacherous. Balls were jumping off a length dangerously and it was amazing that no one got cleaned up.

Plenty of deliveries were taken on the fingers. When you see Ponting taken on the fingers and losing his grip on the bat, you can believe there is trouble with the pitch

Mark Waugh commented when Australia were 70, that that total was enough to win. Had things continued the way they were, he would have been right

Under the conditions, Ponting played a stand-out innings, defended grimly when the ball spat off the pitch and going after them when the ball was ill-directed. One of a few players in the game who would have succeeded as he did. The kid played well for his 30 odd also.

Surprisingly the pitch flattened out late in our innings enabling Johnson to smash them all over the place and continued to play flat during the most part of their innings although I did miss the first 10 overs or so

Not a bad win given what was thrown up to the Aussies

Fair call, the highlights didn't look too much like this.

Australia JUST got over the line against Pakistan

Set 205 for a tie (which would have been enough to get through to the next round - Semi Finals I believe) Australia got 206 runs with a last ball bye

The Paki offie can bowl a bit - most of our batsmen had no idea how to handle him

Very good bowler. We have traditionally struggled against good offies from Pakistan.

                  Great game too.

Australians are doing well against England. We currently have them 6 for 101 but they are scoring quickly.

Watson has slowed them down a bit and snared the 5th and 6th wickets. He also bowled well in the last innings.

I might have to record the balance of this game.

Easy 9 wicket win by the Australians with Ponting and Watson both making centuries.

Was a great win by the aussies. Good to put England out of the tournament. Fantastic batting by Watson and Ponting.

Did anyone see when Watson has flat batted a six into the crowd, this young guy(maybe 17 or 18) has gone to catch it, has missed it because of the speed it was going, and the ball has smashed full pelt into his head? Was unbelievable. Even more unbelievable that the young guy didn't seem to be that injured(although he did have blood on his head) and watched the rest of the game. It was really great that he wasn't seriously hurt given how fast the ball was going. I suppose it was pure luck the ball hit him in the head in the right spot, rather than the temple etc. Jeeez it would have hurt though. Poor guy will have a headache for a fair bit.

Aus V NZ final, on paper it looks like a comfortably Australian victory with the Kiwis fairly weak top order and lack of pace bowling depth.

You would hope so, but you never know. Vettori always seems to get 3/nothing playing us, and we have Mike Hussey weighing us down too.

Let it go it's getting really old.

Hussey has not weighed us down this tournament as he is our 3rd highest run scorer behind Ponting and Watson with 137 in 3 innings at an average of 45.66.

I get he was shit in the Ashes but he's certainly pulled his weight tournament.
