John Terry dropped as England soccer captain

JOHN Terry was stripped of the England captaincy following reports of an extra-marital affair with the then-girlfriend of international team-mate Wayne Bridge, the Football Association (FA) confirmed.

The move followed a 12-minute meeting between Terry and England's head coach, Fabio Capello, at FA headquarters at Wembley.

In a statement, Capello said: "After much thought, I have made the decision that it will be best for me to take the captaincy away from John Terry.

Kudos to Wayne Bridge who has somehow been able to put this aside and look at the bigger picture of playing for his country. The big test will be for the manager to make sure some factions don't surface within the group.

I just hope this isn't to much of a distraction for England's world cup campaign

He should really be booted out of the squad but a good decision to drop him as captain.

Praying that somehow we manage to play England in the round of 16 at the World Cup.

Australia V England at the World Cup, it doesn't get any bigger than that.

Not sure it's the right or wrong decision but He is probably the best centre back in the world right now. Not to have him in the squad would diminish Englands chances greatly

Oh yeah it would kill off the slim chance that England have of doing well but from a moral / club standpoint he'd have to go.

I'm happy for them to do whatever makes them fall over at the qtrs this time.

It might also have the opposite effect, sides in crisis sometimes get a stronger sense of team spirit. Sorry, Not sure how to put that without making it link to the actual incident.
