Apart from the figure skating, the winter olympic is probably better allround to watch than the summer olympics. Many of the sports have a sense of danger to them which makes it better viewing. Saying that a luge competitor died this morning in practice.

I love the winter Olympics, i am a big fan on ice sports (especially the hockey).

Very sad to hear the news of the death, apparently he flew off the track at 148km.

Won't be watching, not until someone does a Bradbury.
Don't have an affinity with sports held in snowy climes.

I was meant to be working at the Olympics when I was in Canada last year, decided to come home early though.

The only interest I have though is the Ice Hockey...Canada/USA/Russia/Sweden are going to be great to watch. Managed to see a couple of Vancouver games while I was over there, unbelievable fun & atmosphere.

As a skiier and general Winter person myself, I love the winter Olympics, and about a million times more than the normal ones.

For some reason I feel like my knees hurt when I watch the moguls though, haha.

I watched the opening ceremony and as far as opening ceremonies go, I thought it was one of the better ones.

Same here. I thought the Opening Ceremony was amazing.

I prefer the Winter Olympics over the Summer Olympics. Has the number of Australian athletes competing in Winter Olympics been increasing at each Winter games?

The coverage on Foxtel has been brilliant. It looks stunning in HD!

                    Re: XXI Olympic Winter Games

I too am way more interested in the Winter Olympics than the Summer Olympics.

I am a huge hockey fan so I always like seeing the Russians take on the US, Team Canada, Sweden, Finland, and the Czechs. Alex v Syd the Kid for the Gold is a mouth watering prospect.

I also like the Half Pipe (Go the Flying Tomato), the Luge, Skeleton and Bobsled, the Downhill, Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G, the Snowboarding and the Short Track Speed Skating.

Yeah that was awesome. Pulled the rug right out from under the Chinese party too. Felt bad for Jaqui cooper and all the other girls that had to keep getting relegated from the chair though. But super effort by Lydia.

What was not awesome was the B grade commentary. I didn't mind when Eddie did the Footy, but he clearly doesn't know snow from sand and he doesn't sound comfortable and continually pumps out lines that make your ears bleed. He also waits for Alyssa to comment on things before he realises they are good and then gets fired up.

"That took all of her mental toughness, all of the mental toughness from her head and also all of the mental toughness from her body" - Really?

Does anyone else tire from his 'talking without really knowing what he is talking about' routine?

Alyssa Camplin on the other hand knows what she is talking about but is screechy and needs a hell of a lot of coaching. I know that Australian Aerial champions are pretty hard to come by but there has to be a standard of professionalism, surely? Maybe the two should sit down and take turns teaching each other on their deficiencies so they are not both hurtling toward a trainwreck of a coverage.

Michael Buble miming at the closing ceremony, seems everyone does it now.

I'm sure the locals wouldn't have minded one bit, they'll be up celebrating Canada flogging those Yanks in the Ice Hockey to grab gold...was a great game, The Americans scoring with 20 seconds left in the game to have overtime, only for their big gun Sidney Crosby to score the winning goal, the place went nuts!!!
