    Sachin Tendulkar

200 not out in a one day game at the age of 36 against Sth Africa, a new record.

This bloke over the years has done everything and is a true legend of the game, one of the greats, always loved to watch him play and will surely miss him when he has retired.

A pocket dynamo and from all reports a gentleman and clean guy on and off the field.

In the last 20 years has their been anyone that comes close to him?

    Only Lara.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Tendulkar is flippin' ridiculous, is he not. For pure run-making consistency he has been untouchable.. Lara was more explosive and had huger innings, but was a lot more patchy (if that's possible for someone of that stature.. it's all relative, of course). Hayden was Lara-esque and would rival Sachin if he didn't have his few down patches.

Of his contemporaries only someone like Ponting (and maybe Kallis and Dravid to a lesser degree) comes close in their ability to churn out runs series after series, year after year, in every form of the game.

Absolute run making machine, in saying that if I had to choose one to watch, I'd go see Lara but if you wanted someone batting for your life, you'd go Tendulkar.

Not as good but close, Ponting, Lara, Kallis and Hayden.

This wasn't blasting a weaker side like Zimbabwe either. He's clearly a step or two ahead of a lot of other very good players.

Yep agree, he's a tier above the Ponting's, Lara's and Dravid's and my comment about watching Lara rather then Tendulkar was based purely on aesthetics.

He's even a tier above himself? He really is something special.

Pretty amazing feat. What was the South African attack looking like? If it was a full strength bowling attack, that would have to go down as one of the most impressive performances, ever. What a player.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Interesting that I was talking to some Indian supporters that I know and they were actually saying that they think it's almost time for Tendulkar to go
