Storm v Dragons - Good Friday Clash in Melbourne

With the AFL opposed to playing matches on Good Friday, no such qualm exists in the NRL with 3rd placed Melbourne hosting ladder leaders St. George Dragons at Etihad Stadium this Friday at 2.10pm.

With no AFL games played anywhere on Good Friday, this gives the NRL a huge free kick in Melbourne & with kids being admitted free expect a decent turn up from those die hards keen to see the Storm unfurl the Premiership flag, AFL fans at a loose end & the curious.

We once discussed this & it seems Sockeye might have been on the mark:

So, I can either sit on the couch and watch the telethon or I can go see the Storm?

    Storm it is.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

For anyone who hasn't been to a Storm game yet, this is a great opportunity. We're 3rd, playing 1st. Both Storm & the Dragons have won the first 3 games. So come on, get behind the reigning Premiers!! GO STORM!!

Pass. I'll stick to the telethon. Unless they offer adults free entry (and a meal and drink)

Great contribution to this thread Andrew. Why bother?

Remember the carry on you went on with when someone had a different opinion to yours on basketball?

          Glass houses & all that!

Carry on? I remember a spirited debate on the merits of different sports. I went back through some of that thread, and as Lantern said at the time, it was "fun". People are free to disagree with me, I'm just expressing a view. If people want to disagree, that's fine.

Sounds like a good plan - never been to a rugby game but love it when Storm win! I might just get me a ticket

I wonder if any of the takings will be donated to the Good Friday Appeal? I was planning to head down to the game with some friends, but since I am getting my wisdom teeth out in a few hours, I'm not sure it's the best idea.

Storm are working closely with the Good Friday Appeal. I'm not sure of the finer details, may be able to find information on www.melbournestorm.com.au

Good luck with the dental surgery too!!

Good on you!! I hope you enjoy your first Storm game.

Unfortunately no Under 20s on Friday - gates open at 12.30pm.

Another great defensive display by the Storm, conceding just 4 points to the competition leaders & running out 13 point victors.

If you really like your league, just get a look at Cooper Cronk's pass that put Billy Slater away in the second half. Brilliant!

You are so right Coon Dog - what a pass from SOOPER COOPER to RUN BILLY RUN. Great game, good crowd too (25,480). Hopefully that bodes well for further Good Friday games for Storm. Of course, future ones will be at the new stadium.
