Geez - keep having to retype.

Saw my first ice hockey game ever at the Icehouse a few weeks back. Loved it. Recommend it very highly. I know nothing about the rules but it didn't matter. Games always sell out apparently. Surprisingly big crowd. Lovely atmosphere. Just needs more fighting and will take off.

Who did you see mate? I've been to most Ice games this year including the Trans Tasman Champions league games. The Ice are a solid club, just making the right moves at each level of the Club. Really enjoy being involve as a fan.

Ice V Sydney Ice Dogs. On Canada Day. Very one sided, but will certainly be back for another game.

Where would you rate the standard? Would it be equivalent of TAC Cup level? Canadian High School / College level?? Got no idea but would like to know how good those guys are.

Was also at the game, it was a huge build up and contest in the context of the season. We smoked them.

We have a lot of imports that have had some experience in the CHL / AHL which is a few steps down from NHL. Maybe the strongest state league in footy terms. Most NHL clubs have feeder teams in those leagues.

Some players have spent some time playing college hockey, or in lower Euro leagues. I think the general vibe has been that we're on par with say the Belgian league or a Div 2 college league. Can't say with any confidence but that is the general vibe. I think it has stepped up of late.

AIHL finals this weekend, Melbourne going for 3 straight. Can watch a livestream online. Highly recommend it.

AIHL games will be broadcast on FOX Sports this season. 1st game to be televised will be Mustangs v Ice in the Melbourne derby. Will be a packed Icehouse.

On another note, can anyone tell me about the old rink in Footscray and the local club, Footscray Pirates?

Preseason game between Mustangs and Ice after our game v Freo saw the underdogs (Mustangs) get up 4-3 with a goal in the last 30 seconds of the game. I think we'll see two strong Melbourne clubs duke it out all year.

Footscray Pirates won the local Summer League last weekend as well. They have a strong supporter base from what I saw.
