    Aussies v Pakistan in England

Very strange to see Australia playing test matches against Pakistan in England.

Stumps on day 1 of the 1st Test:

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field.

Australia 9/229 after bad light stopped play after 70 overs.

When I went to bed (at the fall of Clarke's wicket) we were in a super strong position.

Really surprised to wake up and read that the arse had fallen out of the innings, but with a hack like North still in the team and 2 debutants following it's hardly surprising.

As much as a fan of North i had been, was also suprised he was still in the team.

Interestingly enough, the final tour game which ended in a draw, Chris Rogers played against the Aussies, and scoring as 90 odd.

Will be interesting to see how Smith goes with the ball, he has done pretty well thus far for the Aussies in the shorter forms of the game.

Really enjoyed watching some good swing bowling. Once again the ability of Katich to 'gut it out' was very good.

Hmm the pakis have a pretty weak team on paper. They will need Farhat and Butt to get them off to a good start with 2 debutants to follow and Afridi batting at 6. Still think the Aussie will have a 1st innings lead here.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Australia has set Pakistan a total of 440 to win & at stumps on day 3 Pakistan are 1/114.

Katich backs it up with another 80 in the second dig.

It has been quite an entertaining test match thus far, be interesting to see what the conditions are like tonight, Shane Warne made mention that he doesn't know where else in the world that conditions in the weather can change how it plays in the middle as much as it does in England.

For the first few days, cloud cover, darkish light etc, the ball swinging around, making it tough for the batsmen, which is why the lowish scores, was good to see the Aussie tail wag, Hilf scoring his maiden test 50, Paine scoring a 40 odd and Doug 21, really frustrating the Paki's.

The sun finally breaks through, and the pitch becomes a road, and if things continue that way, Pakistan are actually half a chance in running down the 440 needed, which would be the highest ever chase down by a Pakistani side and highest at Lords, the batsmen, especially Butt looked totally at ease wiping out 100 off the chase.

Good to see Smith finally get a bowl, although the ball was hardly spinning, and Watson who got a 5 for in the first innings, has yet to have a trundle.......Watson getting his name on the oppositions honours board for his 5 for, Warney never getting past 4 wickets at Lords.

I know they say it goes on the honour brd but does it?
I mean its not England playing and you would think it would only be England V someone.
Nice trivia question in later years if he does go on it, has this happened before, a non english test at Lords?

Shane Watson became the first bowler on the new neutral Test Lord's Honours Boards as the MCC Spirit of Cricket Test Match see-sawed between Australia and Pakistan.

Not too sure of the answer of that, but i have been quite excited at the fact that both teams are playing in neutral territory, home ground advantage in Test Cricket can be a massive advantage.

At the same time, it is also extremely sad, that the Paki's cannot play at home, they have as pasisonate supporters as anyone going around, they live & breathe cricket, the supporters suffer.

This I imagine will be a very small one even after 100 years.

Neutral grounds is a good idea to stop the massive advantage but you would never see your own team play and who would go and watch other countries play?

Nothing better than winning in oppositions country too.

Well, the Poms, the stands haven't exactly been full, there have been pretty decent crowds considering.

You get games in Sth Africa, and 2 men & a dog attend, even though their home country are playing.

True, but the dog is a cricket tragic and hasn't missed a game in years.

If we had neutral games here I would be there. I enjoy watching non- Australian test matches on Fox Sports.

                              Pakistan are 8 for 285

Marcus North has 5 for 54

probably just saved his spot for another series
