Greg Inglis to leave Melbourne Storm for Brisbane Broncos

Russell Gould - Herald Sun - 10 August

MELBOURNE Storm suffered a double blow today with confirmation superstar Greg Inglis would join the Brisbane Broncos and prop Brett White had been released to join the Canberra Raiders.

Both will fulfil their commitments to Storm this season.

The departure of Inglis had been the subject of intense speculation for more than a month and wasn’t confirmed until the Broncos increased their original offer.

Really sad to see them and Jeff Lima, Ryan Hoffman, Brett Finch, Aiden Tolman etc go. Hopefully we can make their last 3 home games for Melbourne Storm memorable ones. I know they'd rather be staying at the Storm. Best of luck to all of them.

Inglis has actually landed in Rabbitoh country. Crowe's cheque book took a hit on the way through.

Let me see if I've got this right.

        1. Inglis has to leave Melbourne because of salary cap
        2. Souths say a few months back that their cap is chockers
        3. Souths haven't cut anyone
        4. Competitions highest paid player moves to Souths

Any fear this Schubert character intends to visit Souths anytime soon?

Nah, they don't worry about checking the NSW clubs. St George recruited Mark Gasnier half way through this season on $500,000 a year, yet they were fined earlier this year for being over the salary cap. Work that one out. They won the premiership this year, wonder if that'll be stripped?

            The whole thing reeks.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Without knowing all the details, I feel sorry for GI. I don't think he wanted to leave Storm. I wish him luck with whatever he does.

It's a sorry state of affairs when the games best player looks like sitting out the season.

The lack of professionalism in the game is astounding.

Yes, I think the NRL are well on the way to destroying their competition. Something needs to be done and quickly.
