    Pakistan Match Fixing

There's a massive story brewing over in England with a number of Pakistan player looking like being ousted for spot fixing. The 'News of the World' tabloid have named four players they believed are involved; Asif, Amir, Butt and Akmal in influencing aspects of the current England win at Lords while the Sydney test is also under scrutiny, seven players are supposed to be involved. Scotland Yard have launched an investigation and a man has been arrested. It looks like Asif and Amir purposefully bowled three no-balls for a sum of 150,000 pounds.

I cant say I'm shocked but this rocks the game to the core, it's time to take serious action. Life bans and perhaps even a suspension of Pakistan internationally should be undertaken. Such a shame, particularly for a talent like Amir to be wasted when it looked like he could be the next real superstar bowler.

Seems to be one scandal after the other with Pakistan.

Had England 7/105 on the first day & lost by an innings & 225 runs!

Wonder what the odds on winning by an innings were for England on the first day?

Sounds like a certain test vs. Australia at a certain time last year...

Kick them & their players out of all forms of cricket..... Enough is enough.

Disappointing because Mohammad Amir & Umar Akmal are exciting talents... shame we won't (shouldn't) get to watch them over the next 10 years.

Just posing a question what's a more incompetant organization the ICC anti corruption (which cleared the pakistani's) or the Essendon board for extending Knights's contract??

I would hand down massive/career bans for all those involved but I don't think Pakistan should be banished from the game long term (more than a year).

A short term international ban looks a must just to somewhat clean up the messy situation and is Pakistani Cricket.

They should be made to play a five Test away-series against Afghanistan.

Followed by seven One-dayers and three 20/20s

The problem really starts with the Bookies in India who hold millions in bets every day.

I was listening to SEN this morning & Gerrard Daffy from Centrebet was on. He said the 'exotic' bets ie: how many players will take the field in sunglasses, how long an over will take to be bowled, what happens on a specific delivery etc... make up to 25% of the bookies hold with the remaining 75% being on the match result.

Unfortunately some of these bookies have criminal links & players having their families threatened if they don't comply is commonplace & we all know, once they have their hooks into you...

I guess banning individual players will hurt those individual players, but will the problem go away? Doubtful.

I was listening in as well, and how bloody tempting would it be for a player, they don't get paid alot apparently, somebody tugs at his shirt, bowl the 3rd delievery in over number such'n such, you'll get a package with $300,000 in it....oh, and if you don't, forget about seeing your wife EVER again!....well, um, in that case.

The whole system is corrupt over there which start with the police in the Sub Continent, not only in Pakistan, and if the Paki's were banned, the bookies would target another team etc etc.

On which ball of his 3rd over did Amir bowl a no-ball?

(I need to find some quick cash to pay for these bloody over-priced finals tickets)

Everything wrong with Pakistani cricket can be encapsulated in Abdul Razzaq's amazing match-winning innings a couple of nights ago in the ODI against the Saffers. He hit something like 63 of the last 65 runs scored by Pakistan to win the match at the death, clubbing 10 sixes in the process. This was the same Abdul Razzaq who deliberately stonewalled for 4no off 76 balls during the Boxing Day test about 5-6 years ago.
