It was in England in 77. Ian Davis was having a shocker early in the tour and Robinson was selected as an opener for the last ODI and made a hundred (maybe nearly 100?)

After Robinson failed as an opener they brought back Davis and dropped Robinson to no. 6 where he didn't do too well either. I reckon they dropped him for the last test for a kid called Kim Hughes.

Tim Paine would be ideal as well as a contender for Captain.

Using this test as evidence Haddin can return to no.7 or better still be retired for a long term keeping option in Paine or possibly Wade.

Haddin still bats the way DeVilliers did as a young prodigy which to me is the very reason he wouldn't hold his spot as a pure batsmen. I like what he brings at 7 but I just dont think we are going to improve with him in the top 6. Admittedly he has better credentials than some guys currently batting in our top 6 but that is another argument. I dont like that he rarely pulls his game in when the situation requires it and plays so far away from his body. To me his value is as a number 7 where he can counter attack when the opposition are pushing for wickets or build on a big score when we are on top with a fluent strike rate.
