Plenty of criticism on the radio and in the papers. We really just want him to play a role to start with.

Good morning play this morning. Hughes and Watson seeing off the new ball and almost getting to lunch.

Sorry for the slow reply I've been away.

Cos 2 wrongs don't make a right, he is in the 12 now so dropping without even getting a chance is even more silly. How do we know he is any worse than Huaritz at this level?

Also you are talking about Hauritz's SCG form in a test that only a few believe wasn't rigged.

For what its worth he is more of a Vettori type than a big spinning bowler. He is tall and gets good drift on the ball. Draws players out because of his size and is pretty clever. Changes his shape and angles quite a bit. Weakens our batting a bit because generally your spinner will be a number 8 or 9 but I strongly doubt this will be the case with Beer. His lack of bowling of late is a huge concern though.
Why cant Hauritz play a similiar role? His test match bowling figures are only slightly inferior to that of Vettori and he now has two first class tons. We are trying to manufacture something we dont have, it infuriates me that for the selectors, cricketers must fit a mould: we need a holding bowler to be a left arm spinner, only right arm wristies are successful in Australia, spinners must prosper in India, most of it is pure dross, its time to embrace what we have untill a more talented kid comes through, which they eventually will.

Another nice start from Watson without going on with it. Not sure he's ever going to be able to remedy this problem.

          Khawaja looks the goods though.

No problem with that at all particularly if we are going to persist with Smith in the side as well. I just think now that Beer has been picked we need to wait and see how he goes. Certainly didnt agree with the original selection. A spinner who can hold the opposition up and take a couple of wickets would be perfect with Smith in the side to offer some more attacking variety. Just a little bit frustrated with some of the radio and newspaper feedback bagging Beer's bowling from people who have most likely never seen him bowl live.

Its time to accept we dont have a world beater, Shane Warnes dont grow on trees, and instead use what we do have rather then throwing the ball to every guy debuting in the shield bowling at less then 90 k's.
He is about the only spinning Shield cricketer thats a regular and one of the few thats has been around for ages.
So well against the Poms in England that he failed to spin us to victory on helpful pitch in Cardiff. We won 1 game that series and he didn't play that game.
              Who is talking about Warne?

Given the next test is not until August they'll all get a spell & then all get selected again.

If he is to stay in the team he needs to move down the order.

His record at no.4 is disgusting.

Possibly, i would still stick with him going forward. Maybe not as captain, but he should definitely be part of the team in my opinion.

So do we gloss over the fact that he outbowled Swann in that series and was our leading wicketaker after three games? He is one of Australias most successful offspinners in test history, a fine effort for someone who is persecuted by the public in the way he is. Nah I prefer the current selection policy of throwing the ball to anyone who even attempts to bowl spin in the hope that we find someone who will at best only be marginally better while we continue to lose tests. Hauritz is the best spinner in Australia, its a travesty he isnt being selected.

Swann is 10x the bowler Hauritz is now. I don't condone him being dropped prior the series but what it says is if he is our best spinner, we are stuffed and we need to try new options that could possibly be better.

Sounds like the thought process of muppet Bulldogs supporters on BF- Mitch Hahn is playing crap, so we should drop him for Markovic who I haven't seen play, but he must be better.
