Wow as Flanagan eluded to I would love to see a fairytale and have Bailey captain the squad.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I thought they would have to drag him away kicking & screaming.

It's going to be interesting to see if they continue to pick him for the Test team now... Personally I think we should be looking to the future, but who knows how our selection panel works.

I'm not sure what is more frightening, Ponting's recent captaincy, or what the selectors have left to pick his replacement from.

Ponting suggested Clarke. Unfortunately there is no one else at present? Maybe Cam White but he didn't even play test cricket this season

            Is Shane Watson a chance?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I thought of Watson, but if you listen to him talk he's not overly confident. Not sure how he'd go as a (or "the") leader?

As for Clarke, god help us.

It's a good question. There'd been a couple of knocks on Watson in the past a) How reliable is his body, b) is he good enough with bat and ball to be a genuine allrounder. I think in the past 2 years he's put paid to both questions.

The only question left is whether he can handle the workload of opening the batting, bowling 10-15 overs an innings, and also captaining the team. It's a really big ask, but at least he fields at first slip.

If he wants it I would give it to him, but he may not want it.

Clarke deserves the shot, led the one day team very impressively.

Have never been a fan of Clarke, but he is from NSW so is therefore the obvious choice

Yes I will give him that.

I think he should be Captain for a few years and we should start to blood a new captain, someone like Tim Paine.
