    All this aggro in cricket

Is all the aggro you see in test cricket good or bad for it ?
I see all the players sniping away at each other and it just seems out of place. The sledging has been around for years but the way it has been going there will be a physical altercation one day which I would hate to see.The worst part of it is that the Aussies seem to be leading the way.

Use all the tools at your disposal.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

        That's why they're called 'Tests'.

        Test of skill
        Test of concentration
        Test of endurance
        Test of mental toughness.

If you're mentally weak you can always run crying to the media or scream out 'racist' (I'm looking at you, Arjuna Ranatunga).

Agree with this, though I still think there should be a line somewhere.

Not sure about this. Arjuna changed the culture of Sri Lankan cricket generally for the better imo. Was v good at getting the Australians off-side, and won some games because of it. Unfortunately he and the Australians generally mis-read each other, with both sides regarding the other as breaking the unbreakable rules (eg Ranatunga not shaking hands after a game was considered unacceptable by S Waugh et al). But I'm not sure if I make a distinction between what's said on the field and what's said to the media afterwards.

Ponting is someone whose bleating to the media pisses me off. I like him as a player, and he's nice and willful. As bad as the Williams sisters at admitting being outplayed though and gets v sulky.

Loved S Waugh and would enjoy being sledged by him I reckon.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, Matt. I reckon you're wrong on every single point.

Fair enough (though I thought you'd at least agree that the Williams sisters are bad losers ). My opinion on these matters has been influenced a bit by Roebuck who I did some work for and have chatted to a bit about such things.

I notice one of the Williams' (can't remember which one) retired hurt last night while she was getting smashed again.

I know what you are saying but really it's heading towards a stage where a fight will break out. Some of the comments and aggressive behaviour that has been creeping into the game falls into none of your true tests.

If Sarawan had said to me what he said to Glenn McGrath about his wife I'd have taken his bat off him and beat him to a bloody pulp with it.

                          Thanks for that.

Gee that Test was a cracker - and the Wets Indies scored 418 to win!

It was worse than that. He said something like "At least he's got one to suck-Why dont you suck your wive's while shes still got them"
