Storm Fans Behave Like Terrorists - Gallop

Julian Bayard - Herald Sun - 13 September

RUGBY League boss David Gallop has fired an extraordinary salvo at Melbourne league fans, likening their behaviour on Sunday to terrorists.

On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gallop attacked those among a 14,000-strong crowd at AAMI Park who booed him.

"I never really go for that whole passion line. I mean, terrorists are passionate about what they do and, you know, that doesn't make it right," Gallop said.

"I obviously didn't enjoy it, but I'm absolutely confident we made the right decision."

Gallop told a Crocmedia radio show in Queensland those who booed him were clearly in favour of Storm's behaviour in recent years.

It must be a Sydney thing.
He just doesn't understand the passion of supporters.
It should actually encourage him, that some people in Melbourne actually care about the NRL enough to let him know they didn't like what his organisation did in terms of penalising Storm.

I don't agree the cheating was right but do think the penalty too harsh Gallop and to liken boo-ing you to terrorism just shows that you are an ego-manical tool who likes to think he is god!!!!!

No wonder the sport is little more than an amateur game, the bloke running it is basically Joffa in a suit. Unless someone who's not a close minded Sydneyite takes over running the competition it'll be little more than a blip on the national radar in a few years.

Was at the Storm game on Sunday and was a little embarrassed by some of the chanting I would have to say. However, it wasn't likely that he was going to get a warm welcome! Didn't catch up until today what he said in the press - what a jerkoff! I think it is a Sydney thing - they hate that Storm are so successful and have a big following down here!

For the good of Rugby League he absolutely must be removed from any position of authority in the game. He lacks any semblance of impartiality and is thoroughly unprofessional. He has made his disdain for the Melbourne Storm and its supporters clear during his time as NRL CEO.

He's shown the need for an independent Commision running the game very clearly.

I loved it. One of the funnier things I've seen on TV this year. And Gallop still doesn't get it, what a nuff. We Victorians love this stuff and Demetriou's response was priceless. He's made a mountain out of a molehill and will get it in spades next time round. Gallop personally might not be the winner but the NRL certainly is by it. You can't buy that type of marketing.

This bloke has no idea a few boo's and he compairs it to the 9/11 attacks.
We should send him to NY and let him stand on a soap box and try justifying compairing the two.
                    Would not last long.
THis bloke is a real prize GOOSE !!
