Dissapointing loss by the Wallabies to Ireland in slippery conditions last night, neither team scoring a try. In the end the Irish kicking got them over the line. James O'Connor with 2 penalty goals for Australia's entire score.

Puts the Wallabies on the back foot for the quarters.

              Two cracking quarter finals tonight.

In the first, Wales upset the Irish 22-10 in one of the most entertaining matches I have seen for a long time. Both teams played attacking rugby that belied the typical European dour affairs of recent years, but the Welsh defence were magnificent.

The second saw a thus far disappointing France knock out England 19-12, with a scoreline that in all honesty flattered the English. France dominated the first half and didn't give the Poms a break.

Two more crackers to come, with The wallabies clashing with South Africa and the hosts meeting the fearless Los Pumas of Argentina.

              Can't wait.

Wales are a nice running side and play the game the way the Australians do.
England losing to France won't sit well with their supporters.

Going to be a hard game vs the Boks but it should be a good one.

Funny how some of the results have panned out.

Wales were dissapointed with their results and the Irish 'turned the competition on its head' when they beat the Aussies. They're now heading home and we're fancying our chances against the Boks.

I was in the UK a couple of weeks back and Fleet St were giving the Poms heaps when they were winning (they weren't winning by enough) - they will be going ape-you-know-what now!

The All Blacks must still be favourites to take this out.

Great to see the Poms being beaten! I loved it! Hoping for a great game from the Wallabies today, and you would think that the All Blacks will put Argentina away...

The form of the remaining contenders hasn't been great thus far, I think this might be the year they break the hoodoo.

Of course they would be favourites .... it is their national sport. NZ would be the only competing nation where it is their national sport. In Australia, it would be rated fourth in winter sports behind Soccer, AFL, Rugby League. Most other nations it would be soccer.

And the Wallabies aren't really Australia, they are Queensland/New South Wales.

Huge game today and it will take a near perfect effort to beat the All Blacks.

I was listening to the ABC and they indicated that the Haka today will consist of a throat cutting piece. It's the full on Haka.
Now I'm all for respecting other Nations Anthems and in this instance the Haka but I think it's a bit rich to expect sporting nations to stand there (after already respecting their Anthem) and respect a performance that has a part of it indicating that they are going to slit our throats.

I really hope we get off to a good start.
