Marsh made runs in South Africa and has basically batted once since then...and made more runs. I agree that Khawaja couldn't have done worse than try and slash one through cover, but personally I was pleased he missed out this test - he simply does not/has not tried to score at all in the tests he played this summer.

I agree with putting a price on your wicket - but you do have to score runs eventually. Khawaja needed a message!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Just think more steel in the top6 in our transitional period is a good idea.
yeah terrible is overstating things but he has had more misses than hits. Lots of <20 innings to go in with the 3 innings > 50

I'd be ok with it if others are sent messages too. Hussey with his 3rd duck in 8 innings IIRC may be in need of one.

Third FIRST BALL duck, to be exact.

To be fair he didn't touch that ball so it shouldn't really count.

Re: Boxing Day Test - Australia vs India

The decision to provide India with a get out of jail free card with not using the the DRS is very annoying. The technology looks sound to me and if it means assisting the umpires getting a few more decisions right (without slowing the game down) then surely that's a good thing.

I'm sick of hearing the Swarmi Army fans calling in on the radio trying to defend the position of India because apparently the technology isn't 100%. They seem to have forgotten that India had Steve Bucknor removed from umpiring them when they last visited here because the same camera's showed that he got some decisions wrong.

Yep. For a country who's fans claim they place more value on ODIs than test matches they take not losing test matches very, very seriously.

I cant wait for the posturing and outpuring of crap about cheating umpires and conspiricys if Tendulker, Shewag or Dravid get a dodgy decision.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Haddin gone for 27. He's just not in the sort of batting form we need. Siddle going surprisingly well....touch wood.

Haddin is a counter attacker. Its the reason he is in the side. The media has got in his head and he looked like he had no idea how to approach the innings.

Good little spell from Zaheer Khan here. Pattinson batting well within himself.

Certainly not for his glove work.

Haddin stands further back than any 'keeper I've ever seen. He constantly takes balls around his ankles when he should be in a position where the ball is flying into his gloves on the up at waist or shest height. It's the reason I've never been convinced that he's a wicketkeeper first and foremost. He just doesnt seem to have ther hand/eye coordination.

I was always under the the impression that a right handed wicketkeeper (keeping to a right handed batsman) should always try and take the ball on his left hip when the quicks are bowling.

Correct, therefore if the batsmen gets an outside edge you're in a position to cover more ground. Down the leg side it's the reverse to give the keeper a chance to get a glove on a leg glace or one the clips the thigh pad.

All correct on the keeping and if we all know this, how did Haddin get so far without being corrected ?
