While it's a good result for Australia tonight the ongoing slower ball after slower ball by quick bowlers cheapens the game in my opinion.

Because they are Clarky's mates.

Agree that they should only be playing test cricket and we should be blooding players in these meaningless games in the lead up to the next WC.

Bit harsh on Clarke. Haddin was dropped and I'm sure him and Clarke are mates. I do agree M Hussey and Ponting should not be playing.

Agree.

They are in the side because of the stupidity of the selectors. They have ignored domestic OD form(Smith and Ferguson should be in this side) and have said publicly that you need to make 4 day cricket runs to get in the side(eg Forrest, who i must say isn't looking to bad).

Just a quick question. Why does Australia continue to pick Brett Lee for these ODIs?
Its 3? years to the next world cup. Is he gonna play then?

I understand he was once a good ODI player but maybe it's time to try something different?
Is it just a sponsor or contract thing?

I agree, its a real joke and he may get a couple of wickets but he is so expensive. Peter Siddle meanwhile doesn't get a go.

Sri Lanka really do perform well against us. They are competitive with the ball and almost brilliant with the bat so they are a very tough side to beat.

I've read posts like this on here before. "not dropping players because they appear in commercials".
Do you really think that is the case? There are ads on tv at the moment that feature players like Johnson, Haddin, Douggie Bollinger etc and they are all dropped. Why couldn't they do that to Lee?

Just digressing see NZ have had a recruiting mission to South Africa
Their keeper could be riding at Flemington tomorrow.
Fitting the bowlers did the job at the end of the summer

I do. Companies tip a lot of money into sponsorships and it's highly conditional. Lee has the ability to be selected but if the selectors were looking at the bigger picture that would have to agree that picking Lee does the team no good in the longer term and especially given he has retired from test cricket. The fact that Lee is given a CA sponsorship given his limited availability for National duties is to me a reflection of the sponsorships we have in place.
He sells products better than most and I think that is a consideration.
